Wet Hopped Pale Ale
This wet-hopped pale ale, brewed annually following the fresh hop harvest in September, is the culmination of a great friendship between Hoyne Brewery and the Hope Bay Hop Farm on Pender Island. On one special day every year, volunteers gather to pick fresh, aromatic hops, which are used to brew a single batch of Wolf Vine the very next day, capturing the rawness and fragrant intensity of island life.

Flight pour at St. Augustine's. Pours clear gold with white head. Aroma has faded pine. Flavour has old pine and stale malts. Is this really fresh hop? Not great.

473ml can. Pours a crystal clear amber gold with a medium, foamy, long lasting, white head that leaves soapy curtains of lace. Aroma of grainy pale malt, floral and weedy hops. Sweet flavour of grainy pale malt, grapefruit zest, pine resin, grass and weedy hops in a dry, bitter finish. Light to medium body with an oily texture and average carbonation. Not bad, but somehow misses the mark.

Brassy, thick head. Leafy, lightly biscuity, light berryish curranty taste. Low bitterness, mellow character. For me the unique berryish hop note was great, but it was a bit sweet for quantity drinking.

Draft - Fresh pine and some resin. Clear gold with a rich creamy beige head. Grapefruit and resin, not bright but mellow and balanced with a light bitterness.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver, 5.3% ABV
Beautiful amber color, clean, with small head. Aroma of refined sugar, vegetables, metallic. Dry mouthfeel; simple caramel flavor with a hint of vegetables and iron (tomato); no discernible hop quality, and a metallic finish.
Vulgar.

650mL bottle, pours a very hazy copper with a small white head. Nose brings out some metallic notes, some fresh hops, and some bready malt. Flavour brings out fresh doughy malts, somewhat metallic notes, and floral hops. A bit too metallic, but nicely flora. Easily drinkable, but rather standard pale ale.

Re-rate since it's been 10 years: Poured from 473mL can (dated 03 Oct 2023). Clear deep gold with full white head. Gentle malty biscuit underlay, feint toasted quality, with light leafy earthy grass and floral hops. Decent APA. Sept 20, 2013 (8/3/7/3/14=3.5): Poured from 650mL bottle. Clear orangey yellow with white head. Very grassy aroma, some grapefruit and hop, some ginger. Very unique grassy sweet caramel, but lacks finish.

650 ml bottle. Pours an orange/amber with light head. Aromas of tobacco, rubber, malts, and a bit of grain/biscuit. Definite presence of fresh hops but not overpowering. Additional toasted malty flavor to back up the hops. Nice afternoon beer.

Bottle from Spinnakers bottle shop. Hayish malt and green leafy hop aroma, thick herbal, digestive comes to mind. Amber, offwhite head. Cookie and herb aftertaste. Very interesting.
