Served in sampler at brewery. Strong coffee nose, taste, and finish - a pretty unsubtle but enoyable creamy stout. Medium long finish.

Deep super dark brown coloured body with a thin layer of a deep rich brown head, less than a centimetre tall. Aroma of coffee, alcohol, roasted malt, molasses, buckwheat, cream and more alcohol - pungent. Full-bodied; Rich, chocolate, chewy mouthful of alcohol, earth, coffee, cream, soy sauce, mushrooms, roasted malt, nuts and figs. Aftertaste shows a lot of alcohol, some chocolate, but tons of coffee and nuts - deep and strong throughout with a slightly bittering, but very strong coffee flavour. Overall, a decent beer, but not great - there are some good flavours, but the depth and coffee are perhaps a bit too extreme and don’t work out as well as they should or as they could. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Giant Food in Falls Church, Virginia on 13-February-2014 for US$1,83 sampled at home in New Paltz, New York on 30-August-2014.

Bottle from ’Jacks’, Westholme Stores, Goring on Thames, had this on holiday at Camping La Paz, Nr Llanes, Asturian coast, Spain, Tuesday 17th June 2014 Pours black with beige sparkly bubbled head, coffee on nose. In mouth coffee dominates, it is quite thick and a little sweet, alcohol apparent and there are typical roasted flavours. Its fine, quite nice even, but not totally my thing in fact it will be a tricky one to finish on my own. A7 A4 T6 P3 Ov13 3.3
