Volo Cask Days 2009.
Very spicy pumpkin ale. Lots of cloves, and cinnamon. The finish is sharp, and i would say a little prickly. Some decent hopping that is evident in the finish.

Fruit/veg beers have to be the hardest to get right. And pumpkin might be the toughest of all. This one pours a clear caramel brown with a bit of big-bubble head. The nose is heavy on the pumpkin, as one would expect with allspice and a little clove-ish spice, with a dry-hay malt. The taste is lacking in balance. The pumpkin and spice comes in first with a little to much pie-ish-ness for me, followed by some astringent bitterness, all sitting on sweet hay malt back. Overall not my ideal.

Draft - Sweet Christmas spices. Clear gold with a rich white head. Spice is very much held in check. Pale malts come through and a pleasant sweetness. Smell is deceptively strong, but overall well balanced.

Bottle @ gmellison. Golden yellow appearance with a light head. Caramel, pumpkin, spice nose. Light sweetness. Dull vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon flavor. Some caramel and pumpkin. Drinks fine.

Aroma: Slight acidity was picked up first along with traditional cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, fruitcake and crystallized fruits. Not sticking out very strongly. Appearance: Orange. Looks like a pumpkin with a candle in it when looked through with light. Head looks good, creamy, generous with a nice lacing. Taste: Attack is soft with all traditional spices of a pumpkin ale. Slightly acid, texture is watery and missing a bit of spark. Very traditional pumpkin ale with flavors working hard to stick out, but half succeeded.

Pours a clean amber colour with a frothy warm top, average retention and nice thick lacing. Nutmeg nose with hints of cinnamon. Unfortunately, the spices are pretty mild in the taste, and only the pumpkin puree (without spices) come out. Was bottles in September, so not the freshest (does not keep well, long) as a few months after, feel the sour going-bad notes. Medium-bodied with a little creaminess. Very light caramel malt appear in the aftertaste, with notes of grain. Wish I could try this fresh. Gets a little hazy near the last pour. Average pumpkin ale.

Nice amber color; small head. Very light cinnamon aroma; some aroma of cookies or baked goods. Lean mouthfeel; there is a light biscuity malt flavor, roasted pumpkin seeds, and delicate cinnamon.
Interesting, far better than the average Pumpkin Beer.

Smells like pumpkin pie, looks like a pumpkin, tastes like the pie. Orangy gold in colour with medium lacing. Taste is sweet and a little malty, palate is pretty light and carbonation a bit high. Not a bad drinkk, just nose heavy without much follow through. Tap at volos.
