Our flagship beer, Loose Cannon wins people over at first smell. The carefully cultivated interplay of Simcoe, Palisade, and Centennial creates a most fragrant IPA - its nose bursts with notes of grapefruit, herbs, and pine. Bitterness is somewhat subdued by the floral quality that pervades the taste. The color is burnished gold, and the mouthfeel is creamy. A strong malt backbone balances out the triple-hopped beer. Its nickname, Hop3, comes from the brewing process: our brewers hop Loose Cannon in the boil, the hopback, and the fermenter. It won a second place CAMRA award at the 2010 Great British Beer Festival.

It poured a pale straw honey color and had some nice spotty lacing that left light rings that were barely noticed as the beer went down. The smell was sweet and floral balanced with the malts and hops. There is some pine in the smell but almost barely noticed. Some faint grapefruit presents itself as well. The taste was sweet and floral as well. The palate was mostly medium, but did seem slightly watery. Overall, I like this and would come back to it.

Draft @ the Ale House, Amesbury, MA. Served in a shaker glass. Orange in color with a medium off-white head. Tons of retention. Nose is of sweet malt and muddled hops, mostly caramel. Lots of fruits, orange and passion fruit mostly. So sweet it’s sugary. Ok, lots of malt and fruit I taste but the hops are weak at best. Either the Ale House got an old keg or my palates was totally out of whack when I drank this on the night of 12/ 20/ 2012

On draft at lost dog in McLean Virginia. Golden pour with fine head. Citrus aroma. Nicely balance with a mildly bitter finish. A very drinkable ipa.

Tap at Joe Squared (Inner Harbour), Baltimore - 22/05/12. Orange in colour with a medium off-white head. All citrus hops on the nose backed up by pine. Hop forward taste, citrus, pine. Medium bodied, smooth finish, decent IPA.

Bottle. Citrus, pineapple, and caramel malt aroma. Clear orange amber with a small off-white head. Sweet orange and caramel malt flavor. Not as hoppy as I was expecting it to be, but I like the hop/malt balance. Medium body.

Bottle. Pours amber orange color with minimal off-white head. Aroma of citrus and malty notes. Taste has hoppy pine notes, some citrus, with a clean finish and a slight bitter aftertaste. A little low on carbonation for my taste.
