Bomber from the lcbo. Slightly hazy yellow/orange pour, with a small white head. Aroma is quite earthy, and woody with a solid twang. Tart apples, sharp apricot, and some light citrus. Effervescent carb, lively mouth feel. Finish is slightly funky, earthy, hints of floral herbs, cider barrel and tart, funky fruity esters. Complex, easy drinking, nice stuff.

Draft - Sweet fruity esters. Clear gold with a decent white head. Sweet fruity esters with some residual sugars. Not a big fan.

Bottle: Poured a hazy golden color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of rustic malt with light spicy yeast and the cider barrel notes are subtle but still distinguishable. Taste is also dominated by rustic malt notes with some peppery yeast notes and some cider barrel notes are also distinguishable. Body is about a average with good carbonation. Very enjoyable if maybe a tad too sweet for the style.

650mL bottle, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma is very farmhousey, with brett and traditional saison yeast. Flavour brings out very complex yeasts, light funk, and a little floral notes. Highly complex and yeasty in the best way possible. Elegant Canadian saison.

Bottle from the LCBO. Pours a hazy light amber with a small white head that fades slowly. Nose is wheat, apple, banana and lemon with a light spice. Lightly sweet malt start with some lightly tart apple in the middle .The finish brings out some pepper and woodiness. Mouth is medium light with average carbonation and a lingering tart finish. Cider adds a nice bit of character.

A big bottle from the LCBO, but so new the bottle’s SKU wasn’t in the computer. Nice! Big expectations after the phenomenal first colab Amsterdam and Great Lakes Maverick and Gose. Pours a slightly cloudy golden just on the edge of going orange. Thin white head. Nose of apples, nice yeast and a little funkiness. Taste like fruit cups, malt, Belgian yeast, cider. Nice! I will be going out to grab a few more.

(2014 version, 650mL bottle from LCBO and on tap at Bryden’s, June 18 2014) Pours a hazed medium gold, frothy lingering white head with lace. The nose has a sharp, lightly sour cider character with a little woodiness, lightly sweet with saison yeast giving some fruity esters, lightly herbal/spicy. Flavour has the same components, at first a combination of lightly tart apple from the cider with a bit of sweet pale malt, a bit woodier later in the sip with more yeast character, bit peppery as well. A little sweet/tart on the finish as well, slightly dusty yeast, very light herbal bitterness. Light to medium body, moderate carb, feels like a farmhouse. Cider character comes through well and the farmhouse base is a good fit. The acidity from the cider makes it particularly quenching, but it is an interesting beer for most, and for a cider fan in particular. Even my mother, who likes cider but only sour beers, enjoyed this one. I thought the barrel character was a little brighter on tap than bottle, but fruity banana esters were also a bit higher, so the balance was similar.

A golden ale with a thin white head. In aroma, wonderful rhubarb, Brett, vanilla, lime and kiwi, all tropical fruits. In mouth, nice sweet fruity malt with light buttery notes, gueuze like, well done. On tap at A Night with Amsterdam and Friends, Feb 2 2013.
