Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks Tom L. Black with a tan head. Aroma of whiskey, roastiness, a bit of vanilla, wood, chocolate, cookie notes, peaty notes and some smokiness. Sweet flavor, smoky, somewhat peaty, with chocolate, whiskey, wood, roastiness, and a finish with some coffee and a bit of alcohol notes. Rather full-bodied, kinda silky.

Bottle at Chrisso’s pre-GBBF tasting 2013. Aroma is booze wood with a hint of smoke. Flavour is booze, oak and a weird spicy veg pepper. Full body mid carbonation. Roast barley with a hint of peat. Good, but others in the series are better.

Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2013, 10/08/13. Mid black with a good sized tan head. Nose is light roast, touch of plastic, booze, not great tbh - the plastic notes are a little off putting. Taste carries more depth with roast malts, light smoke, brown sugar, mineral tones, dark chocolate, woody, the Bowmore is evident but well balanced and more so no sign of the plastic notes that hampered the nose. Full bodied, fine carbonation, light warming finish. Decent enough impy but not a great, the alcohol is well integrated.

Bouteille 33cl, BB 12/2015. Note douce rappelant la vanille.

Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2013. It pours very dark brown with a thick tan head. The nose is wood, earth, roasty, vanilla, toasted coconut and toffee. The taste is roasted malt, earth, oily, toast, caramel, creaminess, whisky, light peat and milky coffee. Full body, moderate carbonation and oily mouth-feel. A solid beer for sure, but one of least favourite of the series. I can’t say Bowmore does much more me either...
