2011-04-08, bottle 1 year old, 7-4-6-3-13=33
Hazy amber color; generous head. Quite nice aroma of English yeast, a bit cheesy. Too much carbonation (well, the age for sure), with a simple caramel flavor, the mouthfeel is quite dry; the bitterness is strong enough, but the character comes from the yeast. Pleasant, to be tried fresh.

2011-03-10, cask at Alibi Room, Vancouver, as Spinnaker’s English Bitter, 6-4-7-3-13=33
Amber color, clean; frothy head. Light caramel aroma, a bit metallic. Caramel flavor, quite good, with a sharply dry mouthfeel, a bit astringent in the end, but still quite soft; correct bitterness. Good session beer.

Glass, 4-ounce, cask, on the premise, savoured on April 28 2009; eye: reddish golden with yellowish reflections, nice lasting white head, light effervescence, lacing that leaves clouds on the glass; nose: malt, caramel, hops, light Madeira; mouth: velvety, liqueur-like probably because the beer is six-year old, quite smooth, Madeira is supported by the malt, abrupt fall in savours, becomes almost watery, then ends with a hint of bitterness and an even smaller hint of acridness, lightly bitter, medium body, good carbonation; overall: nice surprise FRANÇAIS Verre, 4 onces, cask, sur place, savourée le 28 avril 2009; œil : doré rougeâtre avec des reflets jaunâtres, belle mousse blanche persistante, légère effervescence, dentelle qui laisse des nuages sure le verre; nez : malt, caramel, houblon, madère léger; bouche : velouté, liquoreux probablement parce que la bière a 6 ans d’âge, très douce, le côté madère est supporté par le malt, chute brusque du goût, devient presque aqueuse, puis se termine avec une petite pointe d’amertume et une pointe encore plus petite d’âcreté, légèrement amère, corps moyen, bonne carbonatation; en résumé : belle surprise

Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival 2007. A deep red beer with a huge tan head. The aroma is sweet matly with a stinging note of British hops. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of straw, elderberries, and other spices, leading to a very dry and bitter finish.

Clear copper brown color, small white head. Nutty and hoppy aroma. Nutty malty flavor, not really an ESB-like, but nicely balanced ale. Woody hops in the aftertaste.

Cask handpull at Spinnaker’s, Victoria. Crystal clear pale chestnut colour with lasting beige head. Lovely malt on this, some hop/yeast. Choccy, bit creamy in mouth, lacks deep malts in mouth, more creamy toffee choc. Finish lacks much hop.

Reddish amber ale with a thick collapsing off white head. Strong caramel and brown suga in aroma, light hops, and butterscotch. In mouth, a sweet malt with strong nuttyness, a bit sour, medium bodied, but overall pretty nice. June 17, 2006.
