Bottle from Brusin Ales as IPA2 Double IPA.. Pours hazy light amber with a transient white head. Aroma of sweet burnt caramel with a little floral hop. Med body more or less. Flavor is quite bitter. Underlying cooked caramel. Hop is intense. Rather uncertain as to the type. Guessing citrus/resin. There’s no doubt this is a hoppy little ale. And it’s a lot more balanced than most of these things. Just wish I could assign a name to the hop(s). Going with floral and resin. Hope that’s not too far off.

My bottle says IPA squared. When poured there are little chunks of stuff floating all round in there. 09310FL-112360910 Smells like any other IPA but perhaps a little dull. Yes, that chunk stuff makes it rather interesting inside of a hazy brownish yellow orange substrate. First taste is a big hoppy mouth coating rude bitter rototilling across your mouth soapy bitter green grapefruit rind slap in the jaw master blaster. There, you have it. Session is the same, nasty nellie. Those things floating in there must be chunks of green grapefruit rind. This is one big uncivilized drink of a beer, I’m sure this is supposed to be in the double IPA style, wew. Finish is bitter old chewy pine and spruce tar sap.

A hazed DIPA with a thin lacing off white head. In aroma, smooth clover hops, with loads of esters, a bit of nail polish. In mouth, sweet caramel malt with floral hops, a bit of citrus, oily mouthfeel, warming alcohol. On tap at Istmus Beer and Cheese Fest, Jan 21 2012.

Sampled from a 16 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark copper color with a large soapy orange-cream head that lingered and left great lacing. The aroma was moderate fruity and piney hops. The flavor was bitter with an intense resiny presence, moderate notes of grapefruit and lemongrass, fairly strong caramel and faint bread. The finish was long and bitter with lingering pine, grapefruit and lemon. Somewhat dry. Moderately full bodied. Ok.

Vorwiegend herber Antrunk, der Hopfen macht einenschlechten Eindruck und wirkt schwach. Die Bitterkeit dagegen ist stark und prägend, eine geringe Grasigkeit gerät zunehm,end in den Hintergrund, die Aromen wirken hohl. Etwas muffiger Abgang, stark getreidig. 8/7/9/6/10/7

1 pint bottle. Pours dark orange with lots of particulates. The head is thin and beige. The aroma is intense citrus, apples, apricots, brown sugar, and allspice. The flavor is a nice malt backbone and strong, level bitterness. The palate is creamy and a little astringent. The carbonation is light and lively. The finish is long and bitter. Overall, a fine example of IIPA.

16 oz. bottle. And I feel I need every drop of it tonight. Pour has the light brown appearance of a barleywine, actually, with a 1-finger head of tan foam. Can’t fathom the date code, but I already can’t smell much in IPA hops, just a faint hint of malt graininess. Taste foregoes the usual "3 C’s" hops for a more European load: peppery, evens up with caramels malts and some alcohol heat. Can be enjoyed more as a hybrid IIPA/barleywine, on the low side of the alcohol scale.

16oz bottle. IPA2 version. Semi-transparent orange-brown color. Full bodied caramel flavor collides with syrupy hops. Actually quite nice, a pleasant surprise. Mellow carbonation works well with the high ABV and solid hopping. Malty finish.

Bottle: Poured a deep hazy orangey color ale with a medium foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma consists of bitter hops with distinguishable caramel malt base. Taste is also a mix between some bitter hops, though not as bitter as expected considering the style, with a nice caramel malt backbone. Full body with average carbonation. Refreshing and well done but not as hoppy as expected.

No this was a let down. Pour was a copper with a large whtie head. Aroma is hard to detect with an ever so slight hop presence. Flavor is not much better but i get more of caramel malt then any hops. If your going to make a beer called IPA2 you better hop the carp out of it.
