American India Pale Lager

MMMKAY is an India Pale Lager originally produced from the final runnings of Aww Jeah. Since then, its own malt bill has been developed so the good people of Michigan can have access to MMMKAY even when Aww Jeah hasn’t been brewed. The initial fragrances are of bold citrus fruit; guava, orange, and lemon. As the head settles, the aromas shift to fresh evergreen accents. Indicated by the light body and pale yellow appearance, the focus of the beer is on hops, rather than malt. An array of enjoyable American hop flavors shock the palate ranging from slightly fruity to an intense earthy pine. A bold bitterness dominates the finish, enhanced by the clean unobtrusive nature of its lager origin.

12oz bottle. Unfiltered orange body. Earthy evergreen hoppy tones. Resinous aftertaste. Kind of a dank, antiquated, unappealing aroma. A unique take on the style, but kind of odd and imperfect too. Not much finesse, kind of sloppy.

Bottle. Pours a a near clear gold with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has a nice crisp grass and pine combination with a touch of light grain supporting. Flavor has a nice pine note with grass and a touch of onion plus a light grain backbone.

12 oz. bottle. Thanks Willrunforbeer on the share. Hazy golden pour with soft bubbly head. Aroma is huge on grass and floral notes. The flavor has a huge hop profile! Grass, citrus, and pine. The lager yeast and malt bill give a light body and it ends crisp. The bitterness is a tad harsh but not distracting and could have been smoother at a younger age. Yeah, nicely done on this brew.

Draft. Light golden body with a frothy, white head. Aroma of grapefruit, pine, toasted grain, caramel. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately to heavily bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. A bitter, resin-tasting lager. Notes of lemon, grapefruit peel. Strong bitterness pretty much masks any other flavors.

Bottle, thanks to Clownisseur! Pours hazy butterscotch, small off white head, dissipates fairly quickly, decent lacing. Aroma is dank, passionfruit, mango, spruce, cat piss, wet leaves. Flavor is lightly sweet, medium bitter, dank and tropical, sweaty. Medium body, a bit oily, lingering bitter finish. Nice effort.

Another brew thanks to Another6Pack. Thanks again Trent!

It has pale in the name but it’s quite good looking. Maybe an 18K gold with a 1" head of foam and loaded with lacing.

LOL! Okay, who dropped a pine cone into my glass, swished it around, and removed it before I could catch ’em? THE piniest beer I think I’ve ever smelled and it’s not even an IPA.

Pine Pine, pine away! 5%abv with so much flavour of pine, and it’s a Lager! Tree-mendous.

Medium bodied, medium carbo, nice mouthfeel.

Okay, this surprised me big time and I’m digging it big time. What a treat! And there’s even a bit of a malty touch way in the background.

Draft in pint glass. Initial hit on the palate says "IPA" and finish says "lager." Hoppy on front side and smooth on the finish. Very good.

12 ounce bottle into lager glass, bottled on 7/19/2013. Pours lightly hazy bright golden color with a 1 finger dense white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, orange zest, lemon zest, guava, pine, floral, grass, light honey, light bread, and floral/yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with big citrus hops and a light-moderate malt backbone; and good strength. Taste of grapefruit, orange zest, orange rind, lemon zest, pine, floral, grass, light bread, light honey, and floral/yeast earthiness. Good amount of pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, citrus zest, citrus rind, pine, floral, grass, light bread, and earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of hop flavors with a light-moderate malt backbone; and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and moderately sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice IPL. All around good balance and complexity of hop flavors with light malt balance; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
