A blend of 50% New Belgium Oscar, 40% Upland Dantalion, and 10% Upland Raspberry Lambic. Oscar is a darker base sour, with notes of chocolate, green apple, and cherry, which is a main contributor to La Folie creation. Dantalion is Upland’s take on an Oud Bruin, with spices added for complexity, including star anise, ginger, and grains of paradise. Raspberry Lambic is the addition of over 3 lbs. of fresh whole raspberries to a base lambic-style beer.

750ml shared at a tasting. Unfiltered, caramel orange brown. Foamy beige head. Leathery, puckering mouthfeel. Eastern European bakers chocolate, caramel tones. Acetone notes. Heavy handed, overly sour. Very tasty, intense.

Tasting at Jack’s RAH Annexe! Thanks to Colin. Opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Palate is dry and crisp. Big acid - maybe some Flemish style sourness here as well but it’s hard to taste anything through the acid. Not for me.

Bottle at Chateau Jackl, from an IP trade, 13/08/14. Dark mahogany brown with a moderate light tan swirl and edgework. Nose is balsamic vinegar, tangy dark fruit rinds, soured figgy jam, dark red berry vibes, fair dose of acetic qualities. Taste comprises tangy red berries, earthy dirtsville, big acidic ’aaaheeyyyoooo’, chocolate clustered fruitbang, fruit balsams. Medium bodied, fine carnonation, big acidic close, moderate throat scrapes. Ok sour, just taking the acidity a step too far for me. Doable but only as a bottle share!

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Colino. Pours mostly clear brown with a creamy beige head. The nose has lots of tangy dark fruit, vinegar, wet wood, cherries. Light-medium sweet flavor with heavy, burning acidity, some dried berries, major vinegar. Medium bodied with average, spritzy carbonation. Heavy acetic burn to finish, dried berries, lingering vinegar, cherry, wood. Intense acetic burn that really lasts. A bit much.

Bottle at Jacks. It pours deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is toasty, berry skin, green apple skin, malt vinegar, acid and wood. The taste is big, crisp, tart, acidic, candy, hard acidic, lemon peel, vinegar, wood and earth with a dry, acidic finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Massive acid bomb. Too acidic....

Bottle thanks to Will. Pours a cloudy copper with small frothy off white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is strong cherry skin, funk, oak, vinegar. Thin mouthfeel with strong acidic, cherry skin, mulberry, oak, and nice sour finish. Very good.

Bottle @ Avery Sour Fest 2014. Pours a cloudy reddish brown appearance with a light brown head. Light roast, caramel, raspberry, and vinegar in the nose. Some more dark fruits in the flavor. Moderate acetic acid. Vanilla and oak are pretty prevalent. Blackberries and raspberries with some acid on the finish. I didn’t like the flavor as much as the aroma, but it was an alright brew.
