Flywheel Pilsner Bier features the spicy hop flavors and bitterness you expect in a Pilsner, but we amp up the malt bill for balance. Start with a gentle hop aroma that reminds you of the beer your folks drank at the ballpark when you were a kid. Then get into the firm malt flavors of bread or biscuit. Earthy and bright hop bitterness gets equal attention, of course. And then everything wraps up dry and crisp.

12oz can. I would imagine somewhere in the backlog as a bottle. Not really a classical Pils, but has a really impressive hop bite that I wish most Pils' would even get close to. Deep munich malt or something adding more depth. Perfect filtration, body, head. A lot of depth and class for the style. Teetering into IPL. Great beer.

On tap at the brewery. Pours golden with small white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is grass and straw. Slick body, straw, hay, grass, light crisp finish, good.

Sampled from the tap at GTMW 2019. Pours a clear pale straw yellow with a white head that last throughout the beer. Aroma has a nice grass note with crisp straw and some hay backing. Flavor has a real nice grass, straw and hay combination throughout.

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home watching a terrible Bears game. This is a decent lager, mostly yeasty / bready, easy drinking and better than the average lager...nothing special for this one though.

Bottle. Corn/barley malt and herbal hops aroma. Pale yellow color with giant white head. Sweet barley malt and light herbal hops flavor. Medium body. Meh, a bit better than the standard pale larger.

Bottle via a trade (extra). Pours with a clear, light golden body with a nice, medium sized white head that slowly fades. Aromas of are grassy, herbal and slightly peppery hops, buttered bread, lightly toasty. Nice grainy pilsner note. Flavors lead off bitter, grassy and lightly bready. Kind of an unpleasant vegital mid palate, with a bit of metallic and lingering bitterness in the finish. Dry, bitter, slightly metallic. Very lively bubbles.

Bottle with thanks to Mark. Pours a dingy orange with a minimal head and aromas of lemon and grass. Flavor is pretty sweet... honey, coriander, lemon and grass. This is fairly sticky for a lager and comes off much better than expected.

A lightly hazed blonde lager with a thin white head. In aroma, a rather bland malt aroma, with light vegetable notes. In mouth, a crisp lager with light mineral hops, overall, decent but nothing special. On tap at Map Room, Chicago, May 16 2009.

Guest tap at Flossmoor Station. Yay new Chicago brewer! In a shaker glass, the draft pours a bright golden color with a half finger of white foam. Lightly toasted lager malt smell. Taste suggests a little wheat malt, or is that a touch of corn? A nice layer of peppery German hops, though. Aims for the mass market, but does so very stylishly.
