Made popular by the craft brewers of America, Imperial IPA is a revived style of beer that pushes the boundaries of well-hopped, high-strength ales. Imperial IPA's are traditionally brewed with a high proportion of crystal malt. Our unique take sees UK hop varieties Target, Goldings and Fuggles added to the copper at multiple points during the brew, delivering a piney, earthy aroma and a distinct edge of bitterness. For extra intrigue, we've also added a hint of black pepper - giving the beer a unique spicy twist. Bottle conditioned.

0.5 l bottle from 'Biermuda', best before end of 2027. Clear, deep ruby with a thin, frothy, stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently fruity, slightly herbal-resiny and a bit floral aroma of molasses, raisins, prunes, some tea leaves and a touch of pine. Quite sweet, malty, slightly bitter, gently fruity, moderately herbal-resiny and a little floral taste of molasses, raisins, prunes, marmelade, some pine and a touch of tea leaves, followed by a medium long, gently bitter, herbal-resiny, slightly earthy and just a bit alcoholic finish. Full body, smooth, slightly oily and a bit effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very rich and heavy, more or less a hoppy English Barley Wine. No regrets despite the high price tag, I like it a lot!

Many thanks to Erzengel for sharing! A clear reddish brown beer with a small beige head. Aroma of strong caramelized malt, bitter resinous hops and spruce. Taste of intense bitter hops, resins, spruce, caramel, pine needles, long bitter finish.

Bottle from Rudat. The beer is dark golden and slightly hazy. Intense floral and slightly sweetish nose. The beginning is deep golden - lots of fruit and floralness. Dense and rich, not too bitter with lots of fruit and deep golden smooth mild floral aromatics. Great Imperial English IPA.

Bottle. It pours an unclear deep amber to brown body and a minimal sized light beige head. Some lacing. The aroma has dried fruits, canned apricot, alcohol, pine cones and resin, with some faint bready hints. It's full-bodied, lightly warming and quite smooth on the palate, with a nice bitterness dealing easily with the residual sweetness. Pine cones, resin, bitterness, sweetness, dried fruits, canned fruits, some alcohol and a pleasant warming touch in the mouth. Lasting finish with a nice bitterness. A traditional and tasteful beer. 190216

Bottle: Poured a deep brown color ale with a large dark dirty head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of deep caramelized malt notes with some remnants of residual sugar notes with some dry earthy hops notes. Taste is also a mix of deep caramelized malt notes with some residual sugar notes with some huge earthy dry hops notes with light bitterness. Body is full with good carbonation. Not your typical IIPA but interesting take on the style.

A dark red-brown beer, a head is quite big and beige. Aroma has caramel maltyness, apricot marmelade as typical Fuller's, a bitterness is noticaple as pine-herb-fruit. Taste has richness of caramel malts, some wood and apricot marmelade, the bitterness is surprisingly dominating and that keeps the taste quite dry, herb-pine and hint of fruitness are presented in the bitterness. Almost full bodied, still quite fresh. This beer is from Fuller's. Great beer, balanced and Fullr's has trusted their own strenghts.

Bottle, medium long lasting creamy head, clear dark copper color, aroma of caramel, honey cake and a hint of spiciness, flavor of honey cake, dark caramel just a bit burned, and damsons coming through strongly, some alcohol and a bit astringent, noticable sweetness. Nice but not a IIPA.

Bottle from Terre de Boissons Calais and drunk at home. Clear dark ruby I mean dark dark ruby colour lasting dark beige head. Aroma of toffee malt. Flavour is more sweetish caramel malt, some dry brown malt, some Christmas cake malt and then some spicy hops on the finish. Light bitterness. It's like a light Christmas cake with hops. I mean it's quite a lovely beer, not sure it's an imperial IPA. Big English hop finish. I liked it.
