[as Põhjala Präänik] Bottiglia. Il gusto al naso resta attratto da caffè, cioccolato e sottobosco. L'intensità olfattiva è normale e la maniera in cui permane è sufficiente. Il mantello birroso superiore color ocra non è molto persistente. La grandezza delle bollicine è a grana fine. Il colore è scuro impenetrabile. Il corpo è rotondo. L'amaro è nella media. La forza gustativa è elevata e si prolunga in maniera sufficiente. Le sensazioni boccali finali risultano di pronta beva. Il retrogusto è di decente intensità. In bocca l'aroma è quello di miele, cioccolato, caffè, liquirizia, frutta secca, pane tostato, cannella, rabarbaro e spezie.

Bottle from Hopt. As Põhjala Präänik. Aroma is spicy with dark malt, roast, cinnamon, notes of ginger, clove, chocolate, some liquorice. Flavour is medium sweet with a moderate roasty bitterness. Medium body. Sweet and spicy, but not so much that I can't dig it.

Bottle. A- Gingerbread, cloves. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, beige head. T- Gingerbread, clove, molasses, allspice. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, spiced finish. O- Lots of spice but balanced. Solid gingerbread flavor. Liked this one for a holiday treat.

--Bottled, as Präänik -- Black, small beige head. Aroma of gingersnaps, caramel and licorice. Sweet with full body and rounded mouthfeel. Caramel and gingerbread, cinnamon and coffee. Mid bitter finish.

Gingerbread galore! Maybe my least favorite from them but it’s still worth it because these guys understand darkness.

Sample thanks to Grumbo: Poured a black with a finger beige head. Aroma is gingerbread, licorice, spices. Taste is smooth, chocolate, gingerbread, roasted malts, bit earthy.

Pours black, little bit of light brown foam. Big ginger smell, some roast. Fairly smooth mouthfeel, tad watery, some sharp spices. Taste is definitely gingerbread forward, but also has plenty of roast. Could do with a better body and less of the spice.

From a 33 cl bottle. Pours pours an opaque dark mahogany with a tan head. Aromas of licorice and prunes. Flavors are bitter roast coffee and dark chocolate.

Bière 33 cl achetée chez Saveur Bière et bue en week-end à center parks. Nez très particulier sur les plantes, ça me rappelle un médicament ou un alcool type jagermeister, après avoir lu d'autres commentaires je pense que ça doit être l'essence de girofle. Je retrouve ces notes d'essence de plantée bouche, ainsi que du café et du chocolat. L'ensemble est assez étrange, pas mauvais mais sans doute écœurant à la longue (M).

Baltic Porter aromatisé pain d'épice, j'ai tout de même eu du mal avec ce Präänik que je n'ai pas trouvé fin ni élégant. Les épices ne sont à la fois pas bien dosées par rapport à la base (surdosage), ni bien dosées entre elles avec une présence de girofle trop importante. Cela la rend écœurante à la longue. Ce Porter possède cependant une bonne base comme sait le faire Põhjala avec de solides arômes de chocolat et café. Le visuel est sur un brun foncé proche du noir et sans mousse. Le nez est étrange avec une alliance chocolat, café et épices me rappelant les pâtés de foie de volaille de mon enfance (qui étaient très bon en l'occurrence, mais pour une bière, cela surprend). En verre l'ensemble est très homogène avec des épices et notamment le girofle qui prédomine. L'alcool, à 7,5 % est très honnête. La corpulence plutôt bonne ne fait cependant pas oublier un final court et décevant. Pour Põhjala j’attends mieux pour un porter.
