We chose to call this a tropical stout because we have added tropical spices like vanilla beans and licorice. This beer has spent two years on Aquavit barrels from Agder Brenneri. The flavorful and aromatic sugars have also added further to the spicy and boozy feel of this stout. Aromas from aquavit, bourbon vanilla and licorice. Even at 12% ABV this spiced stout is easy drinkable.

Tap @ Både &. Looks amazing, pitch black with a stable, big, creamy brown head. Strong aroma of dark roasted malt, hint of licorices, vanilla, some Bourbon, wood, cocoa and warming alcohol. Surprisingly enough it doesn't have any booze it the nose at all. The flavor is really sweet with smooth, roasted malt and reminds me a lot about Nødingen. I guess this might be a barrel aged version of Nødingen so I made some compartments with my notes and read that I found it very sweet, promising but a bit raw at the moment. That might match pretty well. It’s still a bit heavy on the sweet side, the vanilla is quite gentle and alcohol is surprisingly smooth. Full bodied, long lasting aftertaste with sweet malt and warming alcohol. Like a desert by itself without any pastry additions with the exception of modest vanilla. Nice sipper, but nothing I take a few glasses of in a row.

29 November 2019. At Billie's Craft Beer Fest. Cheers to the lovely Anke, tderoeck, 77ships & Ghent beer crew! Hazy black, very thin, foamy, beige head. Aroma of green apple, chocolate, vanilla, raisin, fig, liquorice. Taste has sweet dates, fig, whiff of green apple, caramelly & chocolatey malt, bittersweet mocha & spicy liquorice. Herbal hoppy finish, bit woody, lingering vanilla & dark fruit & spicy aquavit. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Not the best combination to me.

13.04.2019, tap @ Pingvinen:
Nice light brown fizzy-creamy longlasting head, deep dark pour. Aroma is slightly sweet sour-ish boozy, unripe banana, oak, rhum, bark, dark malts, dark sugar, fruit stones, cinnamon, whiskey, cloves, spices, grass. Taste is sweet sour-ish spiced, sugar, cinnamon, bark, rhum, fruit stones, dark sugar, dark malts, raisins, soil, cloves, grass, old rope, dried dark fruits, vanilla. Medium bitterness, sweet sour-ish boozy mouthfeel. Fair enough, just way too sweet...
