Bottle @ Van Moll Brewpub. Dark brown color with a small off-white head. Smell and taste malts, firm roast, huge coffee, dark chocolate, slightly iron and soft bitterness. Suitable body, soft carbonation. Lovely beer.

Flaske 330ml fra Eurospar Kvaløysletta. Batch 327. Svart. Høyt skum med litt farge. Synker sakte sammen. Kraftig brent kaffearoma. Smaken har det samme brente kaffepreget. Litt lakris & sjokolade lurer seg fram etter hvert. Avslutter tørt. Litt bunnfall igjen på flaska.

Poured from a bottle. Aroma is fairly coffee forward with a moderate nuttiness to it. Light fruit notes with medium chocolate and light toasted malt notes. A touch of caramel. A slight off note, but I can’t quite figure out how to describe it; almost, like the nuttiness is too strong and a bit like old peanut butter. Pours dark brown, almost black with a medium sized, moderately thick, mocha head that quickly disappears to a thin film in the center and on the edges. Light lacing and small legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet in the finish, but also dry. Medium chocolate notes with some light roast. Medium light dark coffee character, much less pronounced than in the aroma. Flavor is mostly lacking the off note from the aroma. Medium light bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied and slightly watery with medium carbonation. Medium low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright beer but a bit rough around the edges. The odd character in the aroma detracts and the mouthfeel could use some work.

Bottle 33cl. Black with a minimal lightbrown head. Coffee aroma, with some roasted malt. Medium bitter, light sweet with a ok coffee end. A bit watery.

Appearance: Batch 187. Very dark brown, clear. Some tan head.
Aroma: Dark malt, coffee, roasted.
Taste: Coffee, dark malt, roasted, some nice bitterness. Very enjoyable Constitution Day beer.

Bottle at home. Pours dark brown, almost black with very small light beige head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate. Taste bitter-roasted with some malt sweetness and a little umami. Coffee, vanilla. Thin bodied with little carbonation.

Bottle shared with JMD at HNB 24.01.15. Very dark brown, bordering to black. Quickly diminishing brown head. Strong aroma of coffee. Taste of coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla and dark malts. Perhaps a bit waterish.

Flaske fra HelgøMeny Hundvågkrossen, delt med medbrygger Ovesen: kortvarig brunt skum, brunsvart øl- Masse aroma av kaffe og mørkrøstet malt. Halvtørr smak, godt balansert. Mye av alt for sølle 4,5%. God!

Kristiansand Øl Festival 2014. Dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is coffee, malt, hop, chocolate. Flavour is coffee, roasted malt, hop, chocolate. Medium body. Nice beer.
