Oktoberfest lagers are the ultimate party beer. Up front, they’re rich, sweet, and malty, but they finish dry and clean with an ever-so-slight touch of hops. Prost!

16 oz. can, sent for review. A nice light amber pour under a sudsy head. There’s a spicy rye smell to the nose, and the hop seems more of an English earthy note with a bit of Noble hop, perhaps because the rye and the color give it a hint of a Newcastle. Taste carries on the rye spiciness, but also seems to carry some smoothness as if there’s oatmeal in the mix, too. Thought htis is only a minor variation on a solid, malty Oktoberfest.

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home after working out on a gorgeous evening. Appearance is an amber/copper with a thin white head. Aroma is a great mixture of caramel malt and lager yeast, nicely done. Taste is extremely good for the style, very well done, great caramel profile, nice bitterness.

500mL can, sent from mista (thanks Geoff), pours a hazy amber orange with a medium white bubbly head that dissipates quickly. Nose of toasted nuts, rye malts, and biscuity - quite restrained but very pleasant. Flavour is very similar, with toasted nut upfront and some subtler bready, biscuity malts. Very well-balanced, with no harsh edges. Easy drinking stuff. Very good.

16oz can, brought to the area thanks to one of my coworkers. Poured a nice amber color with a large white head. Arama was nice sweet malts, some earthy notes and some floral notes from the hops. Flavor is nice, sweet, almost tropical in nature. Nice and juicy and highly drinkable. This might be blasphemy, but I think this is better than virtually any other Oktoberfest I’ve had before.

Can - thanks Kyle!! Pours clear orange with a small beige head that dissipates with decent lacing. Aroma is caramel, orange, grass, hay ,and spicy rye. Flavor is much the same, mildly sweet, lightly metallic, lightly bitter. Body is medium. I was not a fan of this one.

Tap @ Republican Minneapolis. Pours a dark golden appearance with an off white head. Toasted grainy, cracker, lightly herbal, earthy hoppy aroma. Bitter, herbal, mineralic, caramel flavor with a dry finish. I was a bit disappointed with this.

Can (courtesy of skyview). Toffee malt and lemon peel/pine hops aroma. Hazy amber color with moderate head. Lightly sweet toffee malt and moderately bitter grapefruit peel hops flavor. Different than the average Festbier to say the least.
