ABV 4.8% bottle, 4% cask
Young’s London Gold is key member of the Young’s range. As the name suggests it’s a golden beer with a refreshing taste.
London Gold is available as a cask beer and also as a bottle conditioned beer.
The bottled conditioned variant is an unpasteurised, living beer, matured in the bottle for a fuller, more complex, multi-dimensional, fresher taste. With no artificial carbonation, the only fizz is the natural effervescence created by fermentation.

Cask at the Fox & Anchor in Smithfield. A true to form golden ale with the simplicity that I have come to appreciate from the brewery. Lots of bitter hops and a good balance of malt made this really rather lovely and very thirst quenching.

Cask at the 2018 Colchester Winter Ale Festival. Pours clear pale gold with a lasting white to off-white head. Aroma of hop, malt, caramel and fruit. Medium sweetness, light bitterness. Moderate body, slight oily texture, soft carbonation. So so.

Bottle from føtex carlsberg. Golden, small white head. aroma is flowery sweet and bitter industrial hoppy (vomit bitterness) flavor is malty sweet, flowery honey sweet, maybe also french white caramel sweet, hoppy herbal green fruit peel vomit bitterness. i kind of like the malty and sweet flowery profile, but the bitterness is way too much green mouldy citrus fruit peel metallic vomit for my taste. ( and i love grapefruit flavored hops, it is the kind of bitterness here i don’t like)

GBBF Day 2. Cask. Clear gold beer, patchy pale cream colour head. Palate is light, semi dry and has modest fine carbonation. Clean malts, mildly sweet. Sweetish floral mid into some ripe citrus. Light semi dry finish. Clean and drinkable if quite conservative.

Shared bottle at RB/HD at Fjøløy 02.09.16. Clear golden. Quickly diminishing white head. Moderate aroma and taste, with some pale malt and hops. Hints of lemon and lime marmalade A bit too fizzy mouthfeel. Easily drinkable, but not very exciting.

Bottle, 4.8%. Weak bready aroma. Clear golden colour. The head is white and frothy, but stable enough. The flavour starts off surprisingly malty. Then comes a more bready note, a bit like lager. The finish is nicely bitter, slightly creamy, and has a mild floral aroma hop.
