Handpull cask at the Old Cottage Tavern, Burton. Amber with a creamy light tan head. Very little aroma. Almost none. Which is partly due to the (too cold) conditioning. There’s a bit of naked malt but that’s it. Sweet taste with a toffee and stone fruit note. Bitterness creeps up at the end of the sip for a lingering dry finish. Pretty good but not exciting by any stretch.

Cask-conditioned at the Staffordshire Beer festival, Seven Stars, Bristol 6/10/10. Amber with a slight, off-white head. Malty aroma of caramel, hedgerow fruit and grassy hops. Flavour was sweet, with bready malts, plenty of fruit and a decent bitter finish. Good.

Cask at the Brunswick, Derby. Brilliant gold with a thin white head; resinous aroma; sour blackberry fruit flavour; dry woody finish. Very pleasant.
