The ninth of twenty-one beers for our 11th wedding anniversary. Išmar's. Six years aged. Slightly cloudy, red to black colored. AROMA- aged in wood character, roasted, prunes, black berries, fermented blueberries, pleasant alcohol, povidla (plum jam). FLAVOR- smooth, quite sweet, slightly sour, lightly bitter, warming, plum, whiskey. Fuller to full bodied. Interesting and nice black barley wine.

It’s okay, this one is a bit old, says 2023 on bottle. A year ago, it’s boozy but not that full. Sterk ams

Bottle shared thanks to kermis. Very dark brown with lasting deep beige head. Funky Brett, sweet brown sugar, soft smoke, blackberries, vanilla, whisky, crackers, old wood, sweet caramel. Lots of bourbon and whisky, some nice sweet stout but also a lot of dank Brett funk. Quite sweet, medium bitter. Almost full bodied.

Bottle at Maakun’s. Dark with tan head. Sweet roasted malts, toffee, bretty fingers in my body. Add n to x reference there got it? Nevermind. Lots of oak, red wine, bourbon. But definitely some unintended sour bretty infection going on. Still a lot to like.

Black with a tan head. Aroma of brett, oak, bourbon, chocolate, vanilla and caramel. Flavour is heavy sweet. Full bodied with soft carbonation. Clearly infected, shame.

Bottle from The Gull, North Vancouver, Vintage 2018, bb 11042023, batch 245
Dark brown colour, near black. Weird aroma, some Brett, Indian restaurant, roasted malt. Good body, moderate sweetness, it has good chocolate flavour, and very light sourness. It's probably infected, but still quasi-enjoyable now.

330ml @ Alex's. Appearance: dark brown with a tan head. Aroma: oh well, it smells sour, so it's definitely infected, some roasted malt notes too. Taste: still sweet, but it's definitely tastes sour dark malts. Overall: infected, but it did not become disgusting yet, however, I am sure that in another couple of years it will.

Dark brown, thin head. Very toasty aroma, light chocolate, but also hinting at a plummy, fruity depth. Chocolate, vinous, complex deep fruitiness, a bit of booze, certainly the Heaven Hill comes through in the finish, the Macallan more up front. Fun conditioning, and a balanced, complex base beer. Delicious.
