Dark brown. Vague malty aroma with a hint of chocolate. Soft malts, with a light chocolate signature.

Cranberry juice colored, medium retention and lacing, Very faint aroma of malt and a little spice. Straightforward malt/grain taste. Bland, uncomplex, uninteresting. But, nothing offensive.

Sampled from draft at the Carolina Beer Company in the Charlotte airport during a layover at 9am in the morning. Darker rootbeer appearance. Creamy head. mild dark beer aroma, but no fragrance really sticks out. A well behaved dark brew. Good example of a friendly dark beer without any offensive attributes. Wet old roasty back woods flavors. On th finish, not offensive yet provides the satisfaction of good beer personality.

Bottle. Cocoa, coffee and alcohol aroma. Dark brown colow with small head. Strong oatmeal, cappuccino and citrus hops flavor. Body a bit lighter than aroma would lead you to believe. A very nice brown ale.

Pleasantly surprising beer! My record with regional brews hasn’t been good, but this one stands out. Roasted, smooth, lingering flavor. Bitter hop flavor is there, but cleverly masked by the flavor of burnt berries. The finish is outstanding and long lasting but subdued. I unfortunately did not get much of a head on this one, unlike other commenters. I guess I’ll have to buy it again. (No complaint here)
