Strong golden Ale Fermented with Pinot Grigio and Viognier Grape Juice

Complex and compelling, yet delicate and refined, For the Throne is our tribute to the final occupant of the Iron Throne. This strong golden ale is co-fermented with Pinot Grigio and Viognier grape juices, then bottle conditioned with Champagne yeast.

The beer pours a striking golden copper with a fluffy white head. Aromas of honeysuckle and toasted grain mingle with notes of pear and apricot. The finish is clean and dry, with vibrant effervescence. For the Throne is an ale fit for royalty.

750ml bottle that pours a clean golden colour with a light amber touch. The carbonation is lively and does help the white cap to stay a very long time. Frothy, and almost creamy by times. Foamy lacing is left. Alcohol nose with some sweetness from the malts, Belgian Ale yeast and grassy hops. The taste shows the Belgian Ale yeast with some nice fruitiness from the malts. Some banana notes with hints of pears. Seems like genuine Belgian Strong Ale. Just a tad too sweet or rich to have a lot of, but well-brewed.

750 ml Bottle from Boise Co-op. Rich holden pour with nice fluffy head, active carbonation. Bready, yeasty aromas. Taste brings a light grape sweetness on top of this full bodied golden ale. Wine barrels not out of place with this base brew. Subtle.

The general view is if it is Ommegang and it is a Belgian, I am on it. Bought in Chicago on a successful Cubs home stand, now ready to pull the cork. Using my Buffalo Bayou snifter, the arrival is champagne-like, bright gold in color and a tremendous, pure white head with vigorous carbonation. The scent is attractive, yellow fruit, grapes, hollyhocks and spice. On to a taste, hell yes, mighty fine. I find apricot, pear, rice, bread and more of the spice, but lightly. A great sipping beer on a hot June evening.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a hazy amber color with a large creamy white head that left good lacing. The aroma was sweet, yeasty and fruity with some white wine and a bit of booziness. The flavor was tangy and perfumey with white wine, yeast, faint golden fruit and a boozy note. Medium length finish. Moderately full bodied.

Had this on tap at Puff n Stuff in robinson. In a sniffer it smells a little strong & mildly sweet, but not volatile. Has a typical ommegang yeast feel about it initially. Decent c02 for a heavy beer. A little difficult in the middle and this can be expected but it is quite civilized for a trippel. I even think I get a little tartness on the finish. Very well done domestic strong belgian for a change.
