Sampler at a beer tasting at Binny’s, Orland Park. Do I need to point out: named for Alan Freed’s "Moondog" radio show in WJW, Ground Zero for Rock’n’Roll? Okay, then. Fine, basic color, with a rich English ale smell. Taste is very clean, a nice satisfying hop bitterness over a mild malt profile. Beautifully balanced and as nice a beer in this style as I’ve ever had.

Orangish color, grassy aromas. Flavor is slightly sweet with a yeasty aftertaste. Certainly a grassy flavor comes through as well. Very nice summer brew as it is very refreshing.

Deep raspberry-khaki colored beer, with plentiful bubbles rising in the mostly clear liquid and a dull cardboard colored head that is mostly well-retained. Not much lacing on this one, however.
The nose is dull at first, smells mainly of British biscuit-like malts, some minor breadiness and unpasteurized yeast doughiness. Warming allows some reserved fruitiness to pop out, raspberries, moist strawberries and just a tinge of chocolate sweetness. Aroma is certainly subtle and only moderate strength overall. Hop notes are spicy, mixing well with the fruity yeast and enlivening the doughy/biscuity, rather dry malts.
The flavor is not nearly as dry as the nose suggests, actually beginning rather creamy-sweet, with simple pale malt sugars in good force, mixing with a drying toasted bread note that is subsumed by leafy, very flavorful hops that are neither overly bitter, nor overly conservative. Somewhat damp and mossy, with light flowery notes as well. The hops might be the most interesting part of the beer and really last in to the finish, with a light butter-toffee sweetness and then a fairly quick end due to the snappy carbonation and doughy yeast. In transition, via hops and fruity yeast esters, the beer really shines, but the malts are a bit too awkward and heavy at the front and at the end, as much as the hops attempt to stop them. Drinkable, though, with the malt adding a pleasing creamy texture to offset the moderate to heavy carbonation. No alcohol apparency.

This is a nice brewer but this was my first time trying this beer. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours a light golden color with a medium sized white head. There is a sweet, flowery hop aroma. The flavor is sharp with hops with a sour malt tang that turns dry on the finish. An unremarkable beer overall.

Botle Pours a very clear light orange amber with a small white head that settles to a nice thin skin leaving thin smooth even lacing. Aroma is a very mild, floral, fruity character but a good hopy presence. Almost exactly the commercial description. Flavor is a litle bready and I don’t notice THAT much hops. A little honey, and a bit of a bite at the end. Plain but pleasant. Thanks to EddieG for the trade

Bottled. Deep golden. Raisiny, papery malt aroma. Wonderful deep malt character. Lightly orangey with some vanilla and toffee and well balanced bitterness.

Orange tint to an amber colour. Thin off-white head dissipates quickly. Great aroma of hops, malt, citrus and even noticeable alcohol. Medium-bodied; Full-flavoured hoppiness balanced with nice malt and even a subtle sweetness. Aftertaste left mild in comparison to the taste. Overall, a great treat for me, and another good beer from Great Lakes. Thanks to Jah_Noth (Dan) for the local trade, which evidently got it from Drew...so thanks guys! :-) I sampled this on 17-October-2003.

Clear amber color with a medium creamy off-white head. Thin and sticky slow lacing. Both hops and malt in the aroma. Medium bodied, with a rather light hops load in the flavor. Kind of mild for a Bitter, there is a definite malt backbone along with some fruit. The finish is a little on the sweet side. A good session beer.

A solid bitter. Golden-hued, topped with a moderate white head, an aroma of bready malts and bittering hops is readily apparent. The flavor develops as the beer warms, with bittering hops and toasty malts giving way to floral and fruity hops notes at the back of the tongue. Overall, the flavors are more pronounced and crisper than in many bitters, which sometimes tend to leave a muddy aftertaste. A great summer seasonal from Great Lakes.
