Brewed with our friends from Elusive. We've wanted to brew with Andy since meeting him at GBBF, and finally got round to inviting him to brew after a few beers at this year's festival. For the brew we mulled over a few ideas that would be a riff on an IPA, but finally settled on an oxymoronic beer style that we both love,Black IPA. Dark malt and intense hops flavours run amok in this beer.. We combined the woodsy liquorice qualities of Columbus hops with the overtly fruit forward nature of Citra and Mosaic to make this beer taste like something you'd pick up in an old fashioned sweet shop.

330 ml. can shared with SinH4. Black, small mocha head. Nose is massive harsh roast & blueberry + pine hops. Massively dry & bitter, more bitterness from roasted malts than hops almost, heavy blueberry, pine hops, very raw & harsh, bit much but fairly made. Raw but good.

Can thanks to Ken at L42. It pours cloudy dark brown with a medium light tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, charred pine, bright, raw hop greenness, cocoa, orange sherbet and rocky road. The taste is dry, good deal of bitterness, charred pine, peppery spice, resin, orange peel, dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee and some raw hop burn with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Pretty punchy, but decent stuff.
