Thanks to sharing RB crew. Sampled @ Gents Bierfestival 2018. Dark brown, big creamy mocha head. Nose is cacao, thin, chocolate, powder, leaves, BE yeast & very BE in profile,… Soap, bit dull, very BE, mocha, chocolate, grainy, overly BE, too thin, acceptable but not great.

Muddy brown colour with no head. Aroma and flavour have some grassy notes. Some light raisin sweetness.

Pours dark brown. Small white head. Smell is sweeter, dusty. Mild chocolate. Taste is full, bit metallic, tad sweet, mild bitter. Leaves. Not a big fan.

26 April 2018. From tap at Brouwbar. Sample 1/6. Shared with Anke.
Pours hazy dark brown, red hue, with a lasting, small, foamy, tan head; some lacing. Subtle aroma of walnut, toasted (brown) bread, roasted malt & coffee ground, dark fruit, dough, hint of vanilla & caramelized candi sugar. It tastes medium malty & bready sweet, a bit nutty, and light to medium roasted bitter. Dry, toasty, (herbal) hop finish. Medium body, slick to watery texture, fizzy carbonation. No flaws detectable, enjoyable; too bad about the thinnish palate even if it is a 'session Porter'. There is potential, I'm wondering what the result will be should they brew an Imperial Porter or Stout.

03/02/2018 - draught glass @Brouwbar. Dark brown with creamy tanned yellowish head. Aroma is soft roasted malts, dark chocolate, bit nuts. Taste is mild roasted, dark chocolate, some toffee, bit walnut. A bit thin but nice mouthfeel, soft bitter in the end. Could indeed benefit from a bit more punch, but a nice start.

One of the five first beers from this brand new brewpub near the Patershol quarter in the city of Ghent, tasted there during their opening as part of a tasting flight. Tightly papery lacing, pale yellow-tinged beige, creamy and stable head, blackish beer with burgundy hue at its edges. Rather weak, subdued aroma, hinting at coffee grounds, black chocolate bars, hard butterscotch candy, toasted hazelnuts, hints of parsley, minerals and tea bags. Clean, sweetish onset, dried berries and figs, light sourish touch, medium carbonated with a smooth, lean mouthfeel. Classic butterscotch-, toffee- and walnut-like dark malt body, a tad on the thinnish side perhaps even at this (relatively) low AVB, with a thin metallic edge. Mildly bittering finish, toasty with a hint of roasted coffee bitterness but in a subtle and gentle way, minerally side notes and herbal, bit tea-ish, mildly spicy hop bitterness. Technically flawless, clean, to the point and up to date: absolutely nothing wrong here and decidedly non-traditionally Belgian, but at this ABV, it comes as no surprise that it remains a bit thin and superficial. Needs more depth and character, but viewed as the first try that it is, this is quite impressive.
