Draft at Mariano’s. Nice fresh dry hop smell with pine boughs and seeds. Hazy brownish body under a scrum of IPA foam. Plenty of Northwestern hop resin on the tongue. There’s malt here, too. But that stays way to the back. On second thought, there’s some definite sweetness, just not enough to get in the way. Another example of a big, bossy American Pale Ale, which you’d expect from a West Coast brewer, but instead comes from the Heartland.

Can. Murky amber with a frothy, off-white head. Aroma of raw grain, citrus, floral hops. Hint of caramel. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation. Taste of citrus and floral hops, grapefruit. Lingering bitterness. The balance of malt and hop flavors is muddled.

Hazy amber coloured body with an orange glow and a very thick, three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of fresh hops, citrus, pine, resin and a good deal of sweet malt. Medium-bodied; Very grassy flavour of hops, coupled with some resin, pine, earth and a bit of citrus, but mostly hop notes dominate the flavour. Aftertaste shows a subdued sweetness, but a more noticeable resin and pine flavour and a bit of citric bitterness. Overall, a very nice IPA with a good profile and hoppy finish. Great to sample, and perhaps even better after bringing it back home! I sampled this sixteen ounce can purchased from Siciliano’s in Grand Rapids, Michigan on 11-September-2015 for US$2,59 sampled on the train to New York (from Washington) on 03-December-2015.

16 oz can. Pours a slightly hazy orange amber with a somewhat coarse off-white head. Lots of juicy fresh citrus hop aroma. Flavor also very fresh hops, citrus and floral, some pine as well, moderate bitterness and biscuit on the finish. Quite tasty.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 3/27/2015. Pours slightly hazy deep orange/amber color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, herbal, floral, grass, light caramel, toasted bread, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/piney hops and moderate bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, herbal, floral, grass, light caramel, toasted bread, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, pine, light caramel, toasted bread, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and balance of citrus/piney hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately sticky, and lightly creamy mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice standard C hopped IPA. All around good complexity and balance of citrus/piney hops and moderate bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours a clear amber gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has bitter citrus and a bit of pine with a grain backbone. Flavor is bitter pine with a bit of resin and a light grain backbone.

Tap at a restaurant in South Haven, MI. Poured into shaker glass. Hazy orange amber color with a thick head and ridiculous lacing. Aroma has some pine, some citrus, and the general smorgasbord of C hops. Flavor has a little residual sweetness with a moderate bitterness. Its fine, a bit old school, its sort of a general "I throw C hops into a beer" brew. Not bad, just not all that interesting.
