Notes from April 2009 Bottle from New Beer. Washed out BB date on the neck reads 3/??/09. Purchased at the end of January. Poured into my DFH rounded pint glass. Two inches of caramelized milk-colored head over a clear & deep copper body. Smell is stuffy with crackermeal, lightly bittergreen hops, caramel, stale pepper, & metal shavings. Taste is sweet upfront with bready malt & grapefruit rind. Toasty malt fills the middle with some grape skins & some light brown sugar. Body is thin & sharp, but not overly carbonated. Finish is resiny with pine & dusty bread. Aside from the less then clean finish, & the slightly off smell, I think this is a really good ESB. Just enough hop presence, & a good backing of malt, without adding unnecessary body.

From old tasting notes. Bright amber orange color. Bubbly beige head. Fruity toasted malt nose is complex and spicy. Bittersweet toasted malt flavor. Complex and spicy with hints of peppercorns and allspice. Dry hop finish.

Pretty good for style. Citrus in taste with barley edge. Pours dark amber with good head and lacing. Finishes with light bitterness, good barley presence all the way through. On tap at DC Summerfest.

At a tasting, thanks zvikar, small creamy head, deep hazy orange colour, aroma of hay and nuts with some caramel, flavour of caramel, hay with some graininess and a touch of metal, strong and a touch coarse bitterness. Quite nice.

Bottle sample at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks zvikar. Hazy amber. Aroma of malt, caramel, light fruitiness, cardboard notes and floral and earthy hints. Flavor has some sweetish malt, a bit caramelly and a bit biscuity, finishes bitter and hoppy with some earthy hops. Medium-bodied. OK,

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 9/28/2012. Pours lightly hazy orange copper color with a nice 1-2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some good foamy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of caramel, orange, biscuit, nuttiness, toast, herbal, grass, and light earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good strength and balance. Taste of caramel, biscuit, toast, nuttiness, orange, herbal, floral, grapefruit, grass, and light earth. Lingering notes of caramel, toast, biscuit, nuttiness, herbal, and citrus on the finish for a good bit. Very well balanced with nice amount of toasty flavors. No cloying flavors on the finish at all. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming noticed on the finish. Overall this is a damn nice ESB! Very flavorful and well balanced; very smooth and drinkable. No complaints at all, really enjoyed this.

12 ounce bottle thanks to Dan. Pours a clear red/amber color with a medium white head. The aroma is sweet caramel and candy. A sweet easygoing flavor with some biscuit and caramel, light hops. Decent.

A reddish amber ale with a thin off wite head. In aroma, sweetish malt with light cinnamon notes, a bit off. In mouth, a grainy malt, with light chalky notes, a bit raspy, but good. On tap at PA Flavor, April 9th, 2011.

not bad, not sure if its more of an irish red ale more than an esb. red in color and aroma is of sweet malts, no hop represenation almost at all. enjoyable and smooth with a touch of hop bitterness in the flavor. fairly enjoyable but a little sickly sweet in the end.

This is a malt forward yet lightly spicy but noticeably hoppy beer. Nice caramel malts with light toast and roast. Earthy hops and a faint spice flavor. Fairly thick mouth on this one. Carbonation is about average though it has a smooth feel. Really easy drinking and I ended up going through a couple pitchers of this one fateful evening.
