On tap at Abnormal, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out oily resinous hops, some pine, and biscuity malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with bright piney hops, bitter pine cone, and some resins. Dry biscuity malt backbone. Piney, dry finish. Really well done.

(473ml can from Beergium) Pours lightly hazy dark orangish gold with a tiny loose white head. Notes of grapefruit and lemon peels, some grapefruit and a little orange flesh, unripe mango, herbal fresh spruce and pine, green and a little soapy, with thin inconspicuous pale malt and a hint of biscuit. Off-dry finishing dry and moderately bitter, pine needle, citrus peels, hop oils in the aftertaste. Light to medium bodied with soft carbonation. Solid West Coast joint, lacking a little spark but not overly malty either.

Can. Light haze on this gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Light palate, mildly dry, reasonable fine minerally carbonation. Slightly thin malts bring a modicum of sweetness. Light pine. Light and slightly thin citrus and citric peel. Touch of ripe mango. Plenty of pine and a mild hop spice on the finish. On the first few mouthfuls - less satisfying than the other Abnormal DIPAs opened tonight but this is a grower, lighter and a little more subtle but ultimately just as satisfying.

American DIPA tasted from tap at Gollem in Antwerp (during their Craft Beer Madness event). Creamy, thick, egg-white, stable and lacing head over a hazy yolk-yellow beer with peachy tinge; aroma of fresh yellow grapefruit, toasted onion, spruce shoots, wormwood leaves, tangerine peel, gin, moist white pepper. Cleanly fruity onset, hinting at green melon, starfruit and a bit of dried mango, sweetish with a light sourish note, soft and smooth, oily mouthfeel, feeling lighter than it really is. Doughy, ‘white’ bready, soft malt base underneath a very long, piney, grapefruity, tonic water-like, resinous hop bitterness, its peppery character accentuated by a soft afterglow of gin-like alcohol, lively and forceful ‘old school’ citrus peel and pine aromatics retronasally. I love a good West Coast style DIPA and this clearly is a nod to the origins of the (sub)style, rather than trying to connect it to that current NEIPA haze like so many others do. Refreshing and uncompromising, enjoyed this one quite a lot.

Thx! Sampled draft @ Gollem: Craft Beer Madness #2. Orange, solid creamy white head. Nose is weird sweeter candied hop, sugar, cereal, bit soap. Taste is weird bitter grass, haze, too bitter overly so in every way & some cereal, candied, harsh, weird, bitter, not for me.

Pours rather clear, small white head. Smell is citrussy. Taste is sharp, relatively high bitterness, citrussy. Nice.
