22oz (thx, Brian S.!) @ Sales Force. Appearance: almost black with a beige head. Aroma: lots of whiskey, inky, some tartness like in dark sours, cognac barrel. Taste: along the same lines, tart, boozy, roasty. Overall: looks like it got infected, unfortunately :(

750mL bottle. Pours black with thin beige head. Aroma has roasted malt, dark chocolate, bourbon, brandy. Flavour is surprisingly acidic and green peppery; the barrel flavours are mostly liquor. Ehhhhh.

Dark brown. Thin head. Far be it from me to pick out anything specific in here, but there is some port and rum sort of things. Some toffee sugar. This is tart, though. That seems like not what they were aiming for. Port seems dominant and the infection might be a factor in why it's like that. The fruitiness that comes along with it is not quite ideal. I don't hate it, but this fruity, tart thing isn't quite landing. It seems like this bottle didn't work out the way that the other ones did.

22 oz. bottle, pours jet black with a small tan head. Aroma reveals a lot of the spirit barrels -- namely sherry, port, cognac, maybe a touch of rum -- but much less bourbon; there's of course sticky dark sugars, and a great malt bill. Flavour is rather tart: there's no way this sourness is intended. There's some port, rum, sherry, but sour dark fruits hinting at an infection. Man, that's a shame. Maybe this was good 5 years ago, but now there's a major issue. The base still retains some nice malts, but the sourness sadly ruins this.

Bottle pour from share from ClarkVV--thanks Clark!!. Opaque black with light viscosity. Aroma is earthy, woody malt with oak. Taste is earthy, woody malt with oak, bourbon, sweet malt, alcohol. Smooth, thick texture, alcohol in background. Decent amount going on but all on earthy side and alcohol intrudes.

22 oz bottle, thanks ClarkVV on the share! Aroma is bold, chocolate malt, oak, bourbon and soft caramel. Flavor shows, rum, bourbon, roasted malt backbone with a weak bitterness. A lot of oak and soft alcohol. This is REALLY intense. Almost overwhelmed.

500mL bottle drunk 6/1/24. Clear, dark, no head. That's a lot of barrel. But no oxidation. Big lead and black pepper. Some alcohol. Dark chocolate and a plethora of barrel notes. Pretty well-attenuated. Still, despite the spice, it's very boozey. Sticky caramel, bitter roast and rich bourbon. Juicy caramel and vanilla, tons of port and raisiny sugar. Good tannin. Woody, so complex so strong. One of the more tannic, intense beers I've ever had.
