0.5 l bottle from ’Rudat’, best before August 2018. Clear, very dark red to black with a thin, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Faint, sweetish-malty, slightly roasty aroma of chocolate, caramel and some coffee. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty and minimally fruity taste of chocolate, coffee, licorice, caramel and some raisins, followed by a short, moderately roasty-bitter, a bit dry finish. Medium body, just slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Simple, classic, but tasty Porter.

Bottle: Deep chestnut-amber coloured, small and stable off-white foamy layer with a little lace; mild sweetish-bitter roasty nose with illusions of nuts and liquorice; mild to moderate bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied, very soft; drier toasty and a bit peaty finish with hints of liquorice. Very well drinkable stuff...

Cask at the Lord Nelson Inn, Brighton. It pours darkest ruby, near black with a thick light tan head. The aroma is rich roast, coffee grounds, earth, light smoke, tobacco, leather, cacao nibs and spice. The taste is rich roast, bitter - sweet, toast, coffee grounds, liquorice, dark fruits, touch of acidity and dull smoke with a dry, roasted finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Great condition. A pretty good cask porter.

Bottle bought at the Royal Oak. Smooth dry but not too sweetish beginning. Not too deep as it has only 4.8%. Round and smooth with a dry body and malty caramel aroma. Easy to drink, fresh and smooth, round smooth aftertaste. Nice though.

Cask (backlog). Very deep brown colour, close to black, with a small beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, some ashes, toffee and a slight sharp edge to it. Flavour is roasted malts, ashes, some mild bitterness and that’s about it. Not all too exciting.

[5/4/14] Cask at Charlie’s Bar in Copenhagen. As Harvey’s 1st Prize Porter. Black with some brown foam. Aroma of roast, coffee, a bit of dark fruits and some cocoa. Bittersweet flavor, roasty, with cocoa, some coffee and a fruity note. A drier roasty finish, bitterish with an acidic note. Medium-bodied. Very nice.
