Roodbruin bier met schuim. Smaak is fruitig en heel licht zuur met iets van aardbei, bessen en bubblegum. Aparte smaak maar niet onaardig.

330mL bottle, pours a deep dark amber brown with a small off-white head. Nose is full of candied red fruits, plenty of sugars, and gentle balsamic. Flavour is quite sweet for a Flemish red, with plenty of sugars, balsamic, and candied red fruits. Too sweet but there's undeniable complexity here. Good.

Refrigerated 11.2 oz brown squat bottle poured into a glass. Clear marron with medium beige head. Aroma is tart cherry, medium body, medium carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is tart cherry. Solid.

Bottle @ home. Almost clear dark brown body under a big, creamy off-white head. Aroma is caramel, mild acid, dark fruit, hint of wood and slightly funky. Taste is sweet caramel malt, dry fruit, red acidic berries, vinegar, brown sugar, wood and a bit vinous. Balanced body with a nice, tart aftertaste. Complex and tasty.

0,33 bottle. Behind the respectable label is a beautiful chestnut-mahogany brown beer, with a nice yellowish-brown head. Sour, winey aroma, not very good, I'm used to beer :) Despite the long maturation, it's fresh, good carbonation, medium-bodied. It resembles a sweet, red carbonated wine all the way through, of course with quite a lot of acid - so it's more dry than sweet. It wasn't bad, but it will never be my favorite style. You can feel a lot of flavor in it, but the aftertaste is so sour that it takes everything away.

Tekinélyes címke mögött gesztenye-mahagóni barna gyönyörű színű sör, szép sárgásbarnás nagy habbal. Savanykás, boros illat, nem túl jó, én sörhöz szoktam :) A hosszas érlelés ellenére friss, jó szénsavassság, közepesen testes. Mindvégig egy édes, vörös szénsavas borhoz hasonlít, persze elég sok savval - szóval inkább száraz, semmint édes. Nem volt rossz, de nekem ez nem lesz sosem a kedvenc stílusom. Sok íz kiérezhető benne, de az utóíz olyan savanyú, hogy az mindent elvitt.

La mention Grand Cru pour une bière ne m'a jamais plu. Cela ne veut rien dire, et la grande majorité des bières arborant cette mention est une déception. Cette Monk's Café Grand Cru ne fait pas exception. Celle-ci est une alliance avec une sour et une triple vieillie en fut de chêne. Et si la triple permet d'adoucir un peu la sour, elle ne doit pas être de grande qualité de ce qu'on en décèle. Faire un mélange avec une bière qui n'est pas de qualité ne peut forcément pas donner une bonne bière. En visuel nous sommes sur un brun clair avec peu d'effervescence et une mousse brune disparate. Le nez est sur le chêne, le vinaigre balsamique, le caramel et la pomme. Sur l'attaque, c'est l'acidité qui arrive en premier avec, dans un second temps la triple qui n'est pas exceptionnelle. En deuxième bouche l'alliance des deux ne se fait pas bien et me laisse dubitatif. Les arômes ne changent pas par rapport au nez avec un ensemble relativement plat. L'arrière bouche est un peu plus tonique mais également acide et sans grosse complexité. Le final est pour sa part relativement doux et toujours plat. Etrange mixture que ce Grand Cru...

Bottle. Color: Clear copper to ruby, very light brown head. Aroma: Malty, tart, subtle fruity notes. Taste: Caramel, candy sugar, notes of red fruit, sugared yellow fruit and dark cherry. Just over medium body, average carbonation. Hints of yeast and oak wood. Lightly sirupy and lightly soapy. Moderate tart and moderate to over moderate sweet, light bitterness. Nice unusual blending and ageing process but the result is not exactly my kind of beer.
