330 ml stubby bottle, as Saint Germain Page 24 Black Edition Double I.P.A., from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 8.9%. Moderately hazy brownish-orange colour, moderate to small white head. Aroma of American hops, piney and catty notes, not as fresh as I hoped. Piney and grapefruity flavour, notes of caramel and crystal malts, distinct bitterness in the aftertaste. Drinkable, but not a winner in a field with many competitors.

330ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Close-to-clear golden-brown body, covering pearl white head, rings of lace down the glassware. Promising on the nose with herbal hops, grass, and grain. Fine balanced taste of ripe citrus fruits and mid-sweet malts with a touch of butter. Rounded tail, dry and bittersweet. Different interpretation of an IPA, pretty good. Enjoyed at home on a quiet Sunday afternoon (Tromsø, 14.01.2024).

No swing-top bottle. Piana spora, metnosc rowniez, ciemno bursztynowe, pachnace krakersami w karmelu, z rumiankowym jakims ziolowym akcentem. W smaku slodkosc, troche jej za duzo, liczne chmiele cos tam kombinuja by jakos to wyposrodkowac, dostarczaja przyjemnej kwiatowej chmielnosci, z zywica rowniez ale jakos przez masywna slodycz nie moga sie przebic, Meczace i za slodkie dla mnie.

Clear orange beer, dense creamy white head, stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: quite some tropical fruits, buttery, quite some diacetyl, too much for my liking. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: alcohol, lots and lots of diacetyl, sugary, pretty bitter, little fruity. Aftertaste: dry, some orange peel, buttery, way too much diacetyl.

Swing top bottle. Golden color. Fruity, piney aroma. Malty yet dry piney oily hop bitter flavor. Tropical fruit in the background. Tasty!

Bière pression bue au Beerchope à Lille en terrasse, par 36° C un soir de canicule, autant dire que sa fraîcheur était la bienvenue ! Robe dorée un peu trouble. Nez exotique et sucré qui rappelle une ipa américaine, mais en bouche, une bière forte, alcooleuse, presque vineuse, on a des points communs avec une ipa américaine mais en beaucoup plus costaud. Sympa mais vu les 8°, ne pas en abuser en cas de forte chaleur !

Je ne pense pas avoir déjà dégusté une Double IPA avec un alcool aussi mal intégré. Le résultat en est très particulier avec un duo amertume/alcool ne fonctionnant pas. La base relativement douce rajoute aux déséquilibres pour une bière atypique mais pas satisfaisante pour autant. Coté arômes, le duo Chinook, Willamette présente une complexité intéressante mais sur un cocktail qui n'a pas spécialement mes faveurs. Le visuel est sur un blond orangé limpide surmonté d'une fine mousse blanc cassé. Le nez est sur le résineux, l'orange, la clémentine légèrement sûre et le miel. A l'attaque ce sont les épices qui sont le plus présentes sur une amertume plutôt vive. Orange et résineux complètent la palette aromatique. La deuxième bouche est intéressante sous l'aspect de son intensité et de sa complexité. L'alcool dissonant se démarque cependant, faisant davantage que ses 8,9 %. On retrouve les arômes présents au nez avec de légères épices. L’arrière-bouche est quant à elle davantage sur l'amertume sur une alliance pamplemousse, résineux, orange et épices. Le final, long est sur une alliance amertume/alcool atypique. Pas convaincant.

Bottle shared. Slight hazy dark golden with big fluffy off white head. Sugary malts, caramel, cheesy hops, lychee, light alcohol, red berries, dust, grassy, some weird off alcoholic canned fruits. Quite sweet and over medium bitter. Full bodied. A bit weird and boozy.
