T: light malty backbone, grapefruits, tangerine, orange, mango, pineapple, pine resin, medium dry on the palate, fresh fruity feeling, medium body and soft carbonation, nice one, enjoyed, sample @ 5de Winters Bier Festival in Waregem.

Lightly cold hazed darker golden beer, under a good, dense, whipped eggwhite-like head; lightly pearling carbonation, end of bottle serious slops. EU hops in the nose, weed-like, green vegetables, green leaves. More of the same in the mouth, if milder. OTOH, bit burning MF. Again garden weeds, herbs, neutral hops. Feels much better carbonated than it looks. Pretty neutral finish and aftertaste; not very well-bodied. Sorry guys, this is not a NEIPA, but a GWBIPA. (Gent Would Be IPA, as more in the town wanting to be more than it is)

22 July 2018. Gentse Feesten @ Brouwbar! Shared with Anke.
Pours clear golden with a lasting, small, foamy, off-white head; little lacing. Aroma of mango, grass, faint banana, yeast, white bread, pepper, orange peel. It tastes medium fruity sweet, hints of mango & orange, and light hoppy bitter, resinous, piney, a bit bready with a basic sourness. Dry, resinous hoppy finish, lingering yeast & bread. Medium body, slick texture, lively carbonation. Quenching APA, interesting and daring from a local microbrewery.

Thanks! 330 ml. bottle sampled @ Beerlovers Bar. Hazy golden, creamy white. Dull stale cow fodder, cereal, yeast, grainy with egg white,.. Weak stale cereal, cow fodder & some weeds in the back body. Weak for an APA & that is ignoring the NEAPA moniker.

Thnx to Tim , trough Ben ! Pours unclear blonde , small white head. Smell is juicy, crisp malts, citrussy, mild tropical. Taste is sharp, bitter ( too bitter for a pale ale... and new england means less bitter, more juicy ( amongst other things ) so ... really ? Nice taste nevertheless. Somewhat tropical fruity, juicy, average mouthfeel, only very remotely silky. Higher average carbo.

From tap at Geus van Gent. Decidedly non-Belgian beer from what is apparently a new micro brewery in Mariakerke in the northwestern part of Ghent. Very thick and frothy, heavily cobweb-lacing, eggshell-white head over a completely cloudy egg yolk yellow beer with ochre hue. Luscious, strong bouquet of ripe mango, granadilla, white bread pulp, lemongrass, lime juice, green banana, lemon butter sauce, cedar essential oil, dough. Exotically coloured, fruity, juicy onset, mango, pineapple, unripe banana, unfortunately hidden a bit by a very harsh, painfully stinging overcarbonation that certainly is not right for the intended style. Fluffy, doughy malt sweetish middle, a tad buttery (diacetyl?), leading to an aromatic, mildly tropical finish breathing retronasal mango, grapefruit, marijuana and some pine; juicy ending as is the intention with anything bearing the "New England" moniker these days, softly bittering. Clearly hops have been applied here for aroma and not (so much) for bitterness; remains soft and mild, apart from that harsh overcarbonation which seems the biggest flaw here in view of the intended style (which, because of the soft character of the hops, I guess can indeed be identified as a New England APA). Very pleasant, elegant beer for sure, remarkably modern and internationally oriented for a Belgian - as there is as good as nothing traditionally Belgian about this. We can use a lot more of these postmodern 'hipster' brews in our country if only to offer the consumer as much diversity as possible and this one is very noteworthy, especially considering it is the first commercial attempt from this new brewery. One to keep an eye on.

20/X/17 - 33cl bottle @ De Geus van Gent (Gent) - BB: 31/XII/17 (2017-1796)
Very cloudy murky beige brown beer, small creamy irregular off-white head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Doesn't look like a pale ale at all, nor like a NE IPA. The haziness is - mainly if not only - because of the yeast, not because of lupiline powder. Luckily the aroma makes up for the weird looks. very fruity start, lots of pineapple, passion fruit, some caramel, citrus notes, sweet malts. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sweet, malty, some caramel, then bitter hops kicking in, fruity touch, some grapefruit, grains and hay. Aftertaste: very bitter and hoppy, dry, bit sourish, some sweet malts, bit of a medicinal bitterness in the finish, some overripe fruit, banana peel and caramel, very malty finish, some cow fodder and All-Bran. Not bad for a first try, definitely better than what I had anticipated.
