Naturally sweet and tart Blackcurrants give a great depth to the soured base, the addition of Sumac lifts the beer with its touch of salinity and citrus.

Can, 3.6%. Mild berry aroma, blackcurrant. Clear deep red colour. Good pink head. The flavour has a good berry note, slightly citric, but quite mild. Fizzy mouthfeel. Fruity finish, and quite refreshing.

Keg at the Rusty Bucket, Eltham. Clear red pour with a pink head. Aromas of blackberry jam, prunes, raspberry. Flavours of tart berries, raspberry jam, dark plum. No idea what a sumac is but it's probably in there too. Dry, tart finish.

Can shared in London - cheers to Danny. Pours clear red with a creamy light pink head. Not bad, has mild tart berries, a soft herbal nor, low acidity. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly drying finish, touches of green pepper, tangy berries. Sound.

Craft Islington. Bottleshare. Thanks to Dan the man for the can. Light haze on this blackcurrant beer, small magenta head. Airy dry palate, reasonable fine carbonation. Dry blackcurrant, tangy and mildly tart. Sumac? Invisible! Light dry finish. If you are looking for a thin tangy blackcurrant beer, here it is.

Not a ton of spice from the sumac, but a very pleasant, dry Ribena-like sour
