Shared third of a pint at the 31st Shrewsbury Beer Festival in St Mary's Church on 28th September 2023. Dark brown with a beige head, yip, chocolate and fudge like flavours, aroma all about the malts. Sounds sickly but it wasn't.

Cask at Smithfield, Derby. As “Chocolate Fudge” but ABV agreed. Pours a very dark reddish brown with a small cream head. Has chocolate and caramel in the nose. Mouth is crammed full of milk chocolate, with fudge and toffee too plus hints of liquorice. Underneath it all wewre some dark fruits as well. Finish ? Well, it’s yet more chocolate. Very nice, but a bit too heavy on the chocolate really.

Cask - my first cask since the pandemic - taken away from the Real Ale Classroom in Stoneygate. Dark brown, opaque and flat. Milky chocolate aroma with some nutty notes. Sweet taste, chocolate is a little bit artificial but still tasty. Some stone-fruit in the long finish with lightly bitter hop. No carbonation but a silky smooth body. Nice.

Cask. Shakespeare’s, Sheffield. Deep, clear, chestnut brown. Soap suds of sticky, beige head. Nose has caramel. Mocha coffee. Seaside fudge. Toffee. Taste is fudgy sweet, but has a full on, roast malt bitterness too. Light body. Smooth mouthfeel. A little sticky. Fine carbonation. Lingering, roasty bitterness to finish. North Riding absolutely nail this style.

Cask @ Salopian, the pub. Pours dark, thin mocha head. Aroma is strong milk chocolate, some sweet fudge notes. Taste presents a smooth, full-bodied porter, extremely rich fudge and chocolate in character. Very satisfying.
