10/III/18 - 37.5cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker), shared @ RBBWG (Beer Lover's, Antwerp) - BB: n/a, 2014 vintage (2018-256)
Clear pale orange beer, small creamy off-white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: funky, bit weird, fruity notes. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: sickening sweet, sugary, honey, soft acidity, weird. Aftertaste: some dried fruits, very sugary, sticky, rotten fruits, soft acidity, candy, bah.

26/12/2010 - 37.5cl bottle @ Heeren van Liedekercke, Denderleeuw (Belgium)
Clear copper red to brown beer, creamy white head, little adhesive. Aroma: cassis, raspberries, sweet cherries. MF: soft to no carbon (that's not the idea of a geuze, now is it?), light body. Taste: sweet red berries, some earthy bitterness. Aftertaste: sweet berries, brown sugar and in the far distance some acidity. A shame of the lambic, being wasted to this type of "beer".

0.375l bottle as Chapeau Winter Gueuze. Hazy orange body, white head. Aroma of sugar syrup, mold and plum juice. It’s really artificial and too sweet for me. The taste is very similar, only it has a hint of lemon juice in it too. I don’t understand why they call this a gueuze.

375 ml bottle. Deep honey gold color. No head at all. Sweet honey lemon cough drop aroma. Flavor is sweet tea with lemon. Rather disappointing. I think this was a mistake at the brewery and the marketing team figured out that calling this a "Winter Geuze" would help to unload it at a profit. I can’t believe I paid $6.99 for this swill. Oofah!

Bottle. Pours clear golden, with a small airy head. Aroma is sweet farmyard, wine gums, grapes and red apples. Medium body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is overly sweet, with wine gums and sweet pear cider notes. Ruined by sugar.

2014: Butterscotch and lemon candy aroma. Clear dark amber, medium head. Sweet toffee and tangy lemon. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Without knowing anything about how this was brewed or its ingredients, I would guess this is a faro. Tasty, but not a pure gueuze.

[9/26/16] Bottle at a public park in Antwerpen. As Chapeau Winter Gueuze. Golden. Aroma of cardboard, fruits. Very sweet flavor with saccharine, candy-ish, with cardboard, fruitiness, and a light tart hint. Way too sweet.

Tasting at Maakun’s. Smerige stoffige kartonnen kauwgomballenwinkel. Tyfuszoet en smerig. Stinkt ook naar kots en stof en oude goedkope snoepjes. Met mint. Backlog from 2015/10/09. --- Beer aliased from original tick of Chapeau Xmas Gueuze on 23 Aug 2021 at 07:03
