Sampled at Billie's Craft Beer Fest 2017 - day 1. Hazy golden pour with a white head. Notes of citrus, spruce, grapefruit. Medium body, bitter-sweet finish.

02/12/2017 @home - 33cl bottle from Fermenthings (or from a trade with tderoeck, not sure). Clear yellow, small head. Nose is fruits, bit yeast. Taste is a bit sweet malts, citrus, bit spices from yeast, seemed a bit thin for me.

Totem's nod to the New England IPA hype, but in fact a serious attempt to create an own substyle of IPA, with matching house yeast - not many small brewers in Belgium go through that amount of effort... At BCBF in the company of the brewer and his lovely spouse. Snow white, creamy, stable, fluffy head, hazy peach blonde robe. Aroma of raw pineapple cubes, dried apricots, bitter honey, sweetbread, camomile, kiwi, perry, hint of mint leaves. Fruity onset, peachy, ripe pineapple, sweet with a sourish edge, softish carbonation, fluffy and mellow mouthfeel (indeed reminiscent of the creamy fluffiness of any decent NEIPA). Nice breadiness in the middle, bit doughy, supporting ongoing fruitiness, apple- and pear-like, pineapple lingering along, working towards a delicately and elegantly aromatic hop finish, a tad resiny, but not interfering with the beer's overall fluffiness; subtle spicy and floral notes with a citrusy, lemon blossom-like edge. More accessible than average for a Totem beer, I can imagine this becoming a hit in the Ghent region, with an elegance and balance of flavours testifying this brewer's genius - I'm a huge fan of Totem's creations, that much is clear.

Sampled @ Billie's Craft Beer Fest 2017. A hazy deep golden beer with a huge good lasting off-white head. Aroma of citrus hops, grassy hops, grapefruit and tangerine. Taste of tangerine, citrus, orange fruits, not too bitter. Nice.

Won at Ghent Beer Society's Beer Quiz.
Pours hazy beige/ochre with a big, frothy off-white head. The aroma contains grapefruit, grass, fruity hops, citrus, pineapple, some spices & herbs, yeast. It tastes light to medium hoppy bitter and very light citric sour; dry, grassy, yeasty finish. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. 'Dirtier' than some other fruity IPAs but it still does the trick.

330 ml. bottle. Stored refrigerated by the store where I purchased it. Ingredients list wrongly coffee. Hazy orange, big creamy white head. Nose is very weird, spoiled fruit, flower tea, overripe peach, vegetable malt. Sweet bread, rotting fruit, almost cloves, nutmeg,…High carbonation. Taste is dark bread, overripe fruit, nutmeg, almost allspice, I get bread, spice, spoiled fruit, spoiled mango, floral dank, orange peel, pine, almost esters, lingering sweet spices, overripe fruit, almost cacao, near candy, dark bread. Floral yeast. This beer is doing all kinds of weird things, feels heavier than 4.8 % in a way but then again there is the high carbonation. Finish lingers to almost BE character, bread, low sweet near candy. This beer works better if you let go of the ideas & preconceptions of your average IPA, it has bitterness, simultaneously classical, pine resin, dried orange peel but also near spice qualities, almost BE flourishes, it has almost a malt base cacao & dark bread, near candy, light bodied, almost BE higher carbonation. It really does all kinds of interesting things. It seems like I reviewed almost a different beer from everyone else, maybe I wound up enjoying one of the junk bottles that Tim talks about. Too many IPA’s these days play in a very narrow feels, fun to have one that is imperfect but does interesting things. I quite dug it.

Bottle from Geers. Hazy amber/yellow/beige colour, white foam. Lots of carbonation. Very fruit forward aroma: grapefruit and pineapple. Taste is fruity, bitter and hoppy. Good beer but too much carbonation imo.

Bottle thnx to 90! Pours hazy darker blonde. Decent white head. Smell is herbal, 'paardenbloem' characters. Taste is full, bitter, very floral. Bit yeastyness, but not too much to really bother. Its good klaas called this a style of his own, so I dont have to rant how the yeast foesnt fit the style for me. Problem solved. Nice beer. I love gentle, creamy floral aftertaste.

F: big, egg-white, good retention. C: milk-murky amber, hazy, opaque. A: tropical fruits, passion fruits, bit earthy, tangerine, bit caramel. T: malty backbone, pine resin, tangerine, bit grapefruits, raw hoppy, decent bitterness on the palate, medium body and carbonation, I expect more fresh fruity character but still very good beer for the style, enjoyed, 33cl bottle from Bierwinkel De Hopduvel in Gent.
