This is our special ale from the brewers at Anchor. It is sold only from early November to mid-January. The Ale’s recipe is different every year, but the intent with which we offer it remains the same: joy and celebration of the newness of life. Since ancient times, trees have symbolized the winter solstice when the earth, with its seasons appears born anew.

Bottle. Bier Huis, Ossett. 2019 version. Definitely had this before. Must have been pre my RB days, so 2012 or earlier. Who cares? Clear, deep ruby red. Fine halo of light tan. Nose has Christmas cake fruits. Treacle. Notes of fudge chocolate truffle. Taste is dry, vinous and fruity. Light chocolate bitterness. Medium body. Fine, brisk carbonation. Moderate bitterness to finish, with the cake fruit thing lingering nicely.

Not sure if it was too cold or if the spice mix wasn't as bold this year.
