Bottle shared. Unclear orange color, foamy white head. Aroma and flavor are malts, hops but a bit boring, too much carbonation, hops fade fast, in the end: not a DIPA. At least not a real DIPA and not an old school DIPA.

Hazy dark amber colour, creamy foam. Lots of pine, dried fruit, citrus and caramel. Rather sweet, a bit messy, bitter finish.

Slow gushing to mushroom head, extremely dense greyish head over hazy amber beer. Tall eternally coming head makes nasal perception quasi impossible. Bit perfumey, toasted malts. Chestnut, earthy, roasted malts; hint at mint, cookies. Only medium bodied, slightly burning MF. Quite nice, but I'm unsure about what was exactly intended. Oh well, whatever.

Double IPA hopped with Centennial by Tall Poppy near Antwerp, longneck bottle from De Hopduvel in Ghent. Pale greyish white, mousy, medium thick, membrane-lacing, stable head on a lightly hazy, deep bronze-ish copper beer with 'dirty brownish'-ochre tinge - looking a bit oxidized. Aroma of lavender, brown honey, hard caramel, patchouli, hand soap, roses, bread crust, violet perfume, fried apple, orange peel, toasted cashew nuts, dried figs, rum, cedar oil. Sweetish, mildly fruity onset, red apple and fig jam with a touch of medlar, lightly sourish undertone, medium carbonated; oily, even resinous mouthfeel, but quite 'slender' at this ABV. Slick, sweetish peanutty and hard-caramelly maltiness with a slight bready edge, sweetness coming from the malts only with hardly any residual sugariness; medium long, aromatic finish, spicy hop bitterness but in a relatively gentle way, matching with a subtle toasty malt aspect. Herbal, bit peppery with this patchouli- and lavender-like 'perfumey' character returning retronasally, even some sweet orange in the background and perhaps a vague whiff of pine resin, but generally mild - too mild perhaps for a DIPA. Weirdly perfumey - whereas I was expecting a citrusy, piney old school West Coast IPA; that is not quite what I got, if anything this is more reminiscent of e.g. American amber ale, but I can appreciate the distinct character this beer has - even if it did not turn out to be what I was hoping for, probably not even what the brewery was intending, it does qualify as a pleasant, 'different' but enjoyable beer for me, even if I do understand consumers expecting something different and being disappointed (as is apparently the case in most of the ratings below).

A éviter.

Pours rather clear, warm amber. Big, creamy stable white head. Smell is classic style American IPA. Fruity, but also a strong maltyness. Very nice. Taste is full, bitter, creamy, intense maltyness, more than assertive bitterness. Old school style hoparoma. Good body, not in NEIPA style, but in usage of much malts. Médium high carbonation, which is mostly dissolved in the big head, rather than forming a negative in the mouthfeel. Very enjoyable, and indeed nostalgic IPA.

Pretty clear orange beer, huge creamy off-white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving
nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: rather soapy, bit spicy, fruity, very yeasty. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of alcohol, pretty sugary, soapy touch, spicy, pretty bitter, sugary. Aftertaste: unpleasant soapy bitterness, orange peel, not a big fan.
