Appearance: hazy brown with a good beige head. Aroma: Toasted malt, esters, beans, candies, cinnamon, some grass. Taste: Light sweet, light to medium bitter. Dark malts, esters, candies, chcoclate, dpicy hop, distant beans. Lingering hoppy ending. Mouth feel: Medium body, soft to average carbonation. Summarty: No refinement here. Still there is something in here. Interesting.

Flesje gekregen van Inoven. Het is een donkerbruin bier met matig beige schuim. De geur is zoet en licht fruitig. De smaak is zoet en karamel achtig, ebt wel snel weg.

33cl bottle on 16th May 2018 in the Bier Paleis, Brugge. Bronze brown body, off-white crown. Malty molasses rule both the aroma and the fairly sweet taste, half balanced by some yeasty notes, again in both the nose and flavour. Decent.

Flesje gekregen van Tomhendriksen. Donker bruin bier met matig schuim. Aroma is zoet en fruitig. Smaak is zoet en karamel achtig. Jammer dat de smaak snel weg trekt.

Bottle @ home shared with Joes. Brown color (surprise!) with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma is malts, something slightly weird I can’t identify, in some ways it remembers me of sweet ripe pear juice. Taste malts, brown malts, sweetish, a hint of caramel/caramel malt. Decent body and carbonation. Decent, nothing special I’d say, but solid brew for sure.

Biermaekers’ dubbel, from a steini bottle bought at Brugs Bierfestival, shared with Ster at her place. Moussy but loosely structured and therefore not too stable, pale yellowish white head on a hazy bronze-brown beer with reddish coppery hue. Aroma of candied fig, caramel, dried cranberries, dried orange peel, banana, hazelnut shells, cloves, nutmeg, ginger, rosé wine. Fruity, mildly estery onset, some sweet fig and banana along with balancing redcurrant sourishness, medium carbo with slightly minerally effect, caramelly middle with softly bitterish nutty and toasted accents, touch banana peel lingering in the background, finishing with an earthy hop bitterness but malt sweetness and esters keep prevailing. Technically decent, nothing wrong with this as such, but very cliché from a conceptual point of view; I would, however, recommend this as an alternative to industrial abbey dubbels, but there is not much more to this than that. Move on the 21st century, I’d say...

Pours hazy brown with a big beige head. The aroma contains malts, yeast, caramel, herbs, a lot of wholemeal, bread and dough. It tastes only light sweet and medium bitter. Full body and medium carbonation. It has a low complexity overall but it’s very hard to finish, like you’re eating brown bread with every sip.
