We brew Deciduous to welcome the return of Autumn and celebrate New England’s changing foliage. This imperial red ale is russet-amber and fills the nose with pleasant aromas of fresh baked bread, pine sap, and floral citrus. Deciduous embodies the seasonal transition from summer to winter with an earth, lemon and spicy pine aroma balanced on the palate with a hearty malt character and clean, refreshing bitterness. Deciduous is medium in body and dry on the finish.

Clear red amber beer, creamy yellowish head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: very fruity, pineapple, sweet, caramel. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bitter start, fruity notes, pineapple, caramel, malty, some strawberry jam. Aftertaste: sweet, malty, fruity, nice bitterness. Love it!

Pours a murky reddish-copper color with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily to a film. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, piney hops and malt. Medium body with flavors of resiny hops, tropical fruit and roast malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a fruity hops aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

Bottle. Pours hazy burnt orange, medium creamy off-white head, dissipates slowly, nice lacing. Aroma is sharp pine, perfume, spruce. Flavor is light plus sweet, light bitter, pine, pine, pine and pine. Hints of musky perfume and light caramel. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel, light acidity.

Poured from a bottle courtesy of floozbag. Aroma is very hoppy with a lot of grapefruit and pine resin. Some medium light toasted bread and caramel notes with light cracker. Some light orange and tropical fruit notes as well. Pours a murky, dark, brownish red with a medium large, thick, slightly tan head that slowly recedes. Medium high lacing and small legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with some caramel and toasted bread. Some cracker and biscuit notes as well. Medium high bitterness. Moderate hop notes of grapefruit and pine resin. Some medium light orange with light tropical fruit. A hint of alcohol spice. Some lingering malt notes and hop resin. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a surprisingly nice red ale. Lots of hops that work well with the malt profile. Malt isn’t too sweet which is nice.

32oz growler filled and drunk on 10/16/15.
You know the beer is pretty damned good when you go to look at the ratings, see the guy that just gave it a 4.0 and wonder, Wow, I wonder why he didn’t like it that much?!
This is just fantastic. It’s 8% which is way more than fort point and even significantly more than congress street, but I think I may like it more than both. Gasp. It’s certainly not boozy, resinous or sweet. Wonderfully well-attenuated, with spicy hops as are most Imperial reds. But where many imperial reds fail on account of too much astringency due usually to too much specialty malt and too much alpha acid, this shows restraint on the acidity as well as your classic Trillium texture. Impossibly creamy with tight carbonation and both wonderfully malted and dry. Clean, really flavorful and no doughiness, heavy resin or b vitamin/aspirin. Perhaps a touch too much hop acid builds up over the course of the growler, but I also drank the whole thing to myself rather quickly. If they could do a 5% abv version of this, I think that may be perfection.

Pours red-tinged brown into a snifter. White head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Tropical fruit and resin aromas. Slick with earthy yeast, caramel and sweet tropical fruit front to back. Dry resin and grapefruit in the lasting finish.
