The fifth beer in our Hungarian Terroir series is a Belgian strong ale brewed in collaboration with Bodrog Borműhely Winery. Inviting aromas of dried fruits, wildflower honey and vanilla swirl to the nose and excite the palate. Deep flavors of perfectly ripe apples, pears and molasses build on the palate and are lengthened with each sip by candied raisin, punch and the distinct spiciness of the Belgian saison yeast. Hearty and complex with a medium body and prosecco-like dry finish, this Belgian strong ale is ideal for capping off a special evening spent with your loved ones.

Deep golden pour, white head. Nose is sweet wine, estery yeast, pretty sweet amd fruity altogether. Taste is sweet notes of wine, sugar, booze. Closes with long lasting, sweet and pleasantly fruity finish, has light to medium body and normal to heavy carbonation. The Belgian character and vineous notes mix well in this one.

Bottle. Color: Slightly hazy golden, dense white head. Aroma: Sweetish, malty, yeast, subtle grapes. Taste: Over moderate sweet, honey and yeasty notes, Belgium yeast, subtle banana notes, biscuit, subtle white grapes, notes of tannins. Pretty sparkling, almost brut like. Medium body, average carbonation. Bit sticky. Ok, interesting, although not as complex as I was hoping for.

Bottle at a tasting, Zil verne. 2018 edition. Shitloads of rotten apples. Part of it may just be the botrytic grapes, but the overall impression is of rot, not winey goodness. In taste not so rotten, but still heavily applish and pear infused. Weird as none of it is actually inside. Basically just heavily flawed beer.
