Our take on the Double-Double is double the coffee and double the dry-hopping! We used Mosaic for a deep berry character, with Amarillo and Ekuanot bolstering the strong hop character. A higher than normal mashing temperature gives a residual sweetness, helped with allergen-free hazelnut extract and some vanilla. The Peruvian Huabal coffee comes via Pharmacie Coffee Roasters, and provides notes of baked apple and orange marmalade with a sweet and full toffee body.

Bottle at home. Clear yellow-golden color, medium sized quite quickly diminishing white head. Both aroma and flavor do indeed combine a pale ale with coffee which, to me, still is a weird combination. The finish is pretty bitter, at least, for a pale ale. Carbonation is quite fizzy, body is average, texture is a bit watery. Overall, in the end, coffee is good in a stout but in a pale ale or other hoppy beer, hmm, not so much imo.

Clear pale beige beer, small creamy off-white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: quite some tropical fruits, citrus, grapefruit, very nice, little malty, vanilla. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: tropical fruits up front, bitter, citrus, dry, good bitterness, some coffee, caramel, vanilla. Aftertaste: bit sweet, pastry impression, hoppy, tropical fruits, coffee, hint of hazelnuts, caramel, bit weird, but decent.
