330ml bottle. Dark brown with a thin tan head. Yeasty aroma with dried fruit and whisky notes. Flavour is roasted malt, with dried fruit, whisky and a sourness coming through for good measure. Lovely stuff, surprising given the relatively low strength

17 August 2019. At Gents Bierfestival X. Cheers to Anke, Kevin & the crew! Hazy black, lasting, small, frothy, tan head; lots of lacing. Aroma of ripe plum, red grape, wood, wet earth, dark chocolate, black tea. Taste is light malty sweet, subtle raisin, plum & grapes with chocolate & a soft nutty character, sourish brambleberry into bitter coffee. Dryish, bit tart, earthy hoppy finish, more dried dark & red fruits, whisky shows itself mostly in the woodiness. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Impressive taste at this ABV; might have expected more from the 'whisky' description but I shouldn't.

Very dark brown with thin head. Aroma and flavour are very dry & woody. Some dried stone fruits. Too woody overall.

Black beer, thin, lively off-white head. Smells veeery whisky-y. Flavour has a sharp whisky hit up front along with some zesty citrus. Not sure if that's from hops or the Scotch or something. Mellows into a more typical stout sort of flavour after that with some toasty malt and chocolate with the whisky lingering just enough for some boozy warmth. Impressively tasty for being a hair over 4.1%.

Clear dark brown beer, small creamy beige head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: lovely, some cherries, fruity, soft roast. MF: good carbon, medium to light body. Taste: bit watery, nice roast, sourish, some alcohol, cherries, bit of alcohol. Aftertaste: more sourish, some tannins, acidic, fruity, nice roast, malty finish. Lots of flavour for such a low abv beer, love it!

On keg at Six Degrees North Edinburgh. Appearance - deep brown with decent lacing. Nose - caramel and dates. Whisky of course. And wood. Taste - creamy vanilla and toffee. More of the dried fruit. Very cakey indeed. Palate - medium bodied and creamy. Rich but balanced finish. Overall - very good considering the low ABV.

Keg At Six D North. It pours deep brown to black with with a medium foamy tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, heady hit of Speyside malt whisky, salty, savoury, dark fruits, liquorice and cacao nibs. The taste is dry, toasty, tangy dark fruits, slightly sour, vinous, cranberry, raspberry cacao nibs, brown bread, burnt toast cooking chocolate, Belgian yeast, pears, apple, oak and a dash of whisky with a drying finish. Lighter end of medium body and fine, foamy carbonation. Really like the aroma, but the taste is a bit light and tangy. Fine.
