Bottle from Lekkerbier, Sint Nicolaasga. Aroma is strong caramel fudge with toffee, oak, brandy, dried fruits, some bourbon, chocolate, raisins, blueberry cake, dark malt, soft roast. Flavour is sweet with a moderate bitterness and some alcohol. Body is medium to full. Sweet but pretty complex. Starts out with huge caramel fudge but then the brandy takes over.

Süffiger, fein süß-säuerlicher Beginn. Trocken, holzig, bitter, zu süß, unrund. Alkoholischer Abgang. Naja... 10/10/9/9/7/9

33cl bottle. A black beer with a tan lacing. Aroma of sweet caramelized malt, chocolate, vanilla, sugar. Taste of sweet strong dark caramelized malt, vanilla, sweet dark malt, caramel, vanilla.

Almost opaque dark brown beer, good bubbly pale tan head. Smooth airy palate, soft and with some reasonable fine carbonation. Soft dark malts, a quite wonderfully clear and vibrant dark chocolate cake things loud and clear. Nice brandy soaked super rich ripe fruit cake. A little milk chocolate too boot. Such a lovely beer, except.. except.. there is quite a phenol petrol thing going on here, especially on the nose. It's not ruinous and some vigorous agitation in the glass starts to burn it off whilst sacrificing carbonation. Still a phenol thing going on through the finish. Very very tasty but also hamstrung by obvious flaws. Kinda like that amazing girlfriend that you loved to bits until you realised that she was fundamentally quite weird. Nonetheless, the fondness remains...
