The first Reserve release of 2020 was aged for 3 months in rum barrels imported from Jamaica and finished on over 2,500 pounds of coconut, 1,000 pounds of toasted hazelnut, and 200 pounds of chocolate. The use of authentic ingredients enhances the flavors imparted by the barrel, including notes of rich molasses and sweet vanilla, without overpowering this delicious brew.

Bottle. Very deep brown with hardly a wisp of a head. Aroma slightly boozy, coconut is the prominent smell. Taste is chocolate, coconut, slight rum and chocolate.

Quarantine Beer #143 sampled from crowler at home on 05/25/2020. Inky black pour with a medium thick tan head that dissipates steadily to a dense film. Patchy lacing. Aroma of roast malt, coconut, chocolate and hazelnut. Full-bodied with flavors of roast malt, chocolate fudge, toasted coconut and hazelnut. The finish is sweet and roasty with a coconut and chocolate-covered hazelnut aftertaste. Good beer all around.

On tap at the stadsbrouwhuis. Black pour little head. Aroma is rum. Just intense rum, some coconut, sugar. Big body. Flavour is very sweet, coconut and pineapple, chocolate, cacao. Loads of rum. Wow. A bit too much rum for me, but quite nice.

Black with any tan head. Aroma of big medicinal alcohol upfront, fruity and floral rum. The barrel is really overpowering and not helping in the slightest. Having this one as a follow up from the cookie version which was lovely - this one is just a mess from the barrel. Not for me..
