Barrel aged Quad is brewed in the spirit of collaboration. We combine traditional techniques and ingredients like Belgian candi sugar with American innovation and experimentation by the use of bourbon barrels. Our Quad is amazingly balanced and smooth while maintaining the dark fruit notes that are the trademark of the style.

Keg at BD Soho, 29/03/18. Rich mahogany brown with a decent beige cap. Nose is dark fruits, light varnish, toffee, fruit cake, mellow bourbon, light stewed fruits. Taste comprises dark malts, big bourbon soak up, dates, prunes, toffee, boozey licks, brown sugar. Full bodied, fine carbonation, warming alcohol kiss at the curtain call. Decent enough sipper if a little unbalanced in the bourbon stakes.

Brewdog Soho, keg. Clear amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light, fairly dry and has a good minerally crispness. Thin malts, light dry creamy sweetness. Plenty of bourbon but delivered in a dry thin spicy woody fashion. Mild esters. Light dry finish leaves a spicy bourbon linger. Plenty of flavour here but not huge amounts of refinement.

Flesje gedeeld door Benzai. Robijnrood bier met matig schuim dat snel weg trekt. Aroma van mout en Bourbon. Ook de smaak van Bourbon komt naar boven. Jammer dat de smaak snel weg trekt.

Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 12 ounce bottle into chalice, bottled on 9/13/2016. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy deep ruby red, light copper/brown color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, plum, prune, cherry, fig, date, apricot, red apple, red grape, pepper, clove, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, and brown bread; with lighter notes of banana, coconut, molasses, herbal, leather, tobacco, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, bourbon barrels, candi sugar, and dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, prune, cherry, fig, date, apricot, red apple, red grape, pepper, clove, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, and brown bread; with lighter notes of banana, coconut, molasses, herbal, leather, tobacco, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate peppery yeast and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of dark fruits, cherry, apricot, red apple, red grape, pepper, clove, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, brown bread, coconut, molasses, leather, tobacco, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, bourbon barrels, candi sugar, and dark/bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/spiciness balance; and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from yeast/bourbon/oak spiciness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy/sticky/tannic, and slightly silky/slick/syrupy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Mildly increasing warmth of 11.9%, with zero barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is an awesome barrel aged quadrupel. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, bourbon barrels, candi sugar, and dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV with the modestly spicy/tannic/drying finish. Very well rounded fruity/spicy yeast complexity, great malt/candi sugar balance, and amazing barrel integration; never boozy or overly tannic. Very well attenuated, not too sweet for the ABV. A really enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

355 ml. bottle. Joint purchase & share with Kraddel. Dark brown amber, little head. Nose is basic sugar, raisin, cake candy, low fish guts, hint plastic. Taste is candy low soy sauce, BE, cookies, sugar, bourbon saves it given the fish guts & low plastic notes, lots of sugar sweetness, touch lower bourbon sweet, nice one.

pours dark copperamber. Small to medium white head. Smell is bourbon, very balanced, complex quad aromatics ( earthy, leaves, caramel ) Taste is very balanced and refined bourbon, tad sweet. Complex back of a well-made quad , sligtly overtaken, but not completely so, by the bourbon. very well made BBA Quad. Central waters keeps impressing me !

12oz bottle. 2017 vintage. Poured not St Augustijn goblet. Brown color with some reddish hues. Bottom of the bottle has a bit of yeast poop, so not totally filtered but relatively clear despite being dark. Not much head for me. Aroma is strong but not over the top with a whiskey scented buckwheat maltiness. A little dough sweet malt. Moderate esters and sweetness with very low barrel essence, which makes for a strong beer that I wanted without the typical trappings. Flavor is in the same style. Much lower sweetness, barrel, and esters than the aroma indicates but all equally balanced. For and American BA quad it's amazingly well done. I'd buy it again
