An incredibly drinkable ale, light in body but full of flavor. Oaky notes blend with the complex balance of malt and hops. This is a beer you can enjoy for the long haul.

The Diamond, Brooklyn tap ($6): Pours amber with an off-white head. Aroma is like an amber ale with slight oak barrel notes. Taste is much the same. The low alcohol is not evident as this tastes like a much more substantial ale. I don’t know if I would want to session this, but it is good nonetheless.

So this beer seems to be an oak-aged light beer, a beer so mild in flavor that it makes me wonder what’s the point of it all. Not much of a hop presence, yet the malts don’t appear either, and the oak aftertaste comes across odd rather than appealing. Skip it.

Bottle from Beer Table Pantry, Grand Central. Medium head with medium duration. Color is brown. Aroma and taste are caramel, wood, malt, notes of fruits and hops. Light sourness from the french oak.

Bottle. Woody caramel malt aroma. Clear copper with a thin off white head. Caramel malt flavor with a light oaky bitter finish. Light crisp, dry body. Very easy drinking malty beer.

Amber coloured body with a bit of a copper hue and a very thin, half a centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of malt, metal, light sugars and very little else. Light-bodied; Mild vinegar and slightly sour pungent flavour with some malt, a few sugars and a watery, almost anchor small (used) flavour. Aftertaste is very bland, slightly sour and showing nothing of interest and perhaps only funky, crummy tastes. Overall, not very good and really not worth getting unless you like flavourless and simple beers. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 16-November-2011 for US$2.95 sampled at home in Washington on 23-January-2012.

Bottle. Clear amber body with a frothy, off-white head, mostly lasting. Aroma of fresh-baked bread, toasted grain with hint of caramel. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. Grainy taste that is slightly vegetative. Overly sweet. A little more bitterness would have balanced the malts better. Just OK.

bottle - Pours copper with a one finger head. It smells of toffee and wood. The flavor is sweet with toffee and oak along with spicy tones. It’s mildly bitter in the finish. It won’t blow many people away, but the brothers accomplished their goal. Good session brew.

bottle pours light amber with a medium frothy white head, good lacing. Aroma is sour pale malts, lots of earthy wet wood and tobacco. Flavor is pretty nice, again pale or lightly toasted malts that have a slight tang and big wood in the finish of this beer. Very well put together.

On tap. Poured a hazy chestnut with a ruby hue and a tan head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was malty with grain and hay being the main notes. There was underlying light fruits and caramel. Flavor was malty as well with slightly sweet grain and hints of light fruit and citrus.

Slightly bitter and pleasantly tart. Somewhat wild in its attitude and I like that. Odd nice sizzle yet comes across lacking in CO2, the palate is quite friendly. Fruity at times. An over all really nice beer drinken experience. Brownish yellow in appearance with some gunk on the bottom of the bottle. Would certainly buy this stuff again and its not real expensive either.
