(Bottle 35,5 cl) Clear amber with an off-white head. Aroma of caramel. Medium body with some caramel and then nothing. This beer really fades to become bland and superflouos. 290806

An amber beer with a disappearing orange head. The aroma is sweet spicy - which includes notes of ginger, but also light notes of oranges. The flavor is sweet malty and again quite spicy with ginger standing out.

bottle - Pours cloudy and copper colored with a thin, rapidly fading head. The aroma is quite malty, as is the taste. Mouthfeel is creamy and medium bodied with some lively carbonation. This is a sweet beer, though there is some noticeable hops for balance, especially in the finish. It reminds me of Rogue’s Dead Guy Ale, a bock, though not as good. Still, it’s a very nice beer. I’d gladly drink a few of them in one sitting.

Poured a dark red-orange with minimale tan head. Has a sweet aroma of caramel, a little fruit and malt. Tastes of malt with some sweet caramel background with a nice hop flavor to end it. Another quality brew from Bell’s.

Pour is a dark red with a small tan head. Aroma is of slight malts and hops. Flavor is much of the same. Strong malt flavor is overwhelming and there is a hop flavor which helps bring the brew to a finsh.

Bottle pours a hazy redish amber with a modest off white head. Nice rich lacing. Sweet malty aroma with notes of honey. Flavor is woody and fairly sweet with sweet medium dark malt flavors. Slightly chalky unfilterd feel. Lightly bitter trailer. Nice. Thanks to OhioDad for this one.

Thanks to Darkover for the trade. Dark orange/copper color with a thin and lasting off-white head. Thin lacing. Aroma of sweet malt and maple syrup. Light-bodied and kind of creamy with malt and caramel flavors outright. There is a light hops bitterness in the background as well as a hint of roastiness. The finish is very sweet and lingering. Despite my personal hope that they would do something a little more "dramatic" to celebrate, this is a well-made beer and in the upper eschelon for the style. Congrats to Bell’s on 20 years!

Pours amber/copper with a light head. Aromas of pine, grapefruit and sweet malt. Flavor is a bit unbalanced, but not bad. It is a lot like an exagerated Bell’s Amber Ale with a bit more pop.

Bottled. My third "20th Anniversary" beer in 3 months (after Millstream and Sprecher.) And it’s batch #7040, brewed a few weeks after the mythical 7,000. Pours a great amber color with tiny unfiltered floaties, a thin but creamy looking head. Smell is a bit sour; if I didn’t notice the abv listing, I’d’ve thought this was trying to be a barleywine. Chewy body, with a strong malt flavor but not too sweet. Hops tend toward the lighter, perhaps English side. A rich, warming beer, to be sure, and it does leave me just a little tipsy. But I wonder what makes it worthy of a 20th Anniversary tag. Well, come to think, the other two anniversary beers were just more than fair, too.

2005 bottle from SuIIy sampled on 10/27/2005. Pours a nice and unfiltered amber-beige with some deeper coppery-red hues and with minute bubbles rising. The small, but tight off-white head is very well retained and provides for ample lacing. Aroma of lightly toasted grains, sweet caramel and dough, hints of floral hops and some orange fruits (nectarines, cantaloupe, apricots). Flavor and mouthfeel are the real show here, though. The mouthfeel almost overwhelms my senses. It’s a juicy, creamy, tight yet expanding texture, smooth and fluid. Hard to describe but just so fresh and wonderful feeling as it goes down. The flavor is ample caramel malt, with toasted grains, light bread and some more light fruitiness. Hops stay out of the way, for the most part, imparting a slight dryness and touch of floral flavor. Sugar cookies, fuzzy peaches and nectarines and light toffee gently grace the palate as the beer finishes. Low carbonation. Just a spectacular example of the style. Nice and full in the mouth. I think that’s one of my favorite things about a good beer; a substantial, thick mouthfeel. While we’re not talking imperial stout thick here, it’s definitely one of the best mouthfeels on an amber I’ve had, and it dosent achieve this through huge amounts of cloying sugary malt. Such balance. . . . . . .
