Labelled as Nouvelle Moisson: A hazed golden ale with a thick frothy white head. In aroma, smooth biscuit malt with light perfumy notes, faint Brett, grassy hops, nice. In mouth, a rather doughy example, with biscuit malt, wet dough, grassy surranated hops, sweet fruity notes, powdery moutfeel, OK, considering this is a year old.

Bouteille 500ml. Couleur acajou foncé avec des reflets rougeâtres, mousse beige foncée laissant une belle dentelle. Arôme d’agrumes sucrés, malt, houblon herbal. Goût de malt caramel, houblon herbal, faible amertume, café en fin de bouche et agrumes en arrière-goût. Carbonation moyenne-élevée, corps moyen-faible, un peu aqueuse.

LA CHOUAPE - NOUVELLE MOISSON - definitely not the same beer as HOUBLON FRAIS (see my rating below) I hope I bought a bad bottle because this beer is disgusting. Aroma is similar to decaying herbs. I don’t know what it is but it smells barn or rotten hay with a touch of sour. Appearance is gold with orange glints, very hazy with white, thick and creamy head. Little lacing fading fast. Taste is awful: like old barn rotten hay with a sour aftertaste. This beer is definitely sour. Had to trow it down the drain. HOUBLON FRAIS - LA CHOUAPE (Tasted in october 2012) Aroma: Cinnamon, caramel and pepper; a surprisingly malted and yeasty nose for an IPA although we can also find herbal notes of fresh cut grass. well balanced aromas. Appearance: Amber brown, hazy, average creamy pale brown head, sticking well to glass with fair lacing. Taste: Attack is malted at the beginning with notes of cinnamon, caramel, clove and nutmeg. Then, fresh hops are taking over with herbal notes, fresh cut grass and hay, leaving a smooth bitterness with a long lasting finale. Very interesting to discover undried fresh hops flavors for the first time. Another country beer by La Chouape. Very interesting for those who want to discover the taste of undried hop. Aroma: 7 Appearance: 3 Taste: 7 Palate: 3 Overall: 14 Total 3.4

Bottle: Poured a hazy deep beige color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of fresh cereal notes with great floral hoppy aroma. Taste is a mix between some super fresh and somewhat floral cereal notes with some super floral green hops notes. Body is quite full with limited filtration and good carbonation. This was a surprising hit with loads of nice aroma and fresh cereal notes.

Brown bottle, 500 ml, savoured on July 21 2011; eye: golden, clear, light effervescence, tiny sheet of off-white head, light lacing; nose: malt, light hops, slight medicinal, light perfumy; mouth: light perfumy, malt, light hops, slight medicinal, light banana, slight coriander, dry finale in malt with presence of hops, medium body, rather carbonated, slightly bitter and sweet, slight astringency, harsh texture; overall: correct FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune, 500 ml, savourée le 21 juillet 2011; œil : dorée, limpide, légère effervescence, très petite couverture de mousse blanc cassé, légère dentelle; nez : malt, léger houblon, très léger médicinal, léger parfumé; bouche : léger parfumé, malt, léger houblon, très léger médicinal, léger banane, très léger coriandre, finale sèche en malt avec présence de houblon, corps moyen, plutôt carbonatée, très légèrement amère et sucrée, très légère astringence, texture rugueuse; en résumé : correct

Bouteille 500ml. De couleur dorée et voilée. Nez de levures fruitées (agrumes, abricots, léger de poires), de grains de céréales fraîches et sucrées, léger de pain, de miel et de houblon herbeux (herbes fraîches) aux notes florales avec des traces de sucre bonbon. Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen et une texture aux notes crémeuses. Goût de levures fruitées (agrumes, moyen d’abricots, notes de poires et de pêches) aux petites notes épicées (traces de coriandre) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût de grains de céréales fraîches et sucrées, un léger goût de pain et des petites notes de sucre bonbon puis en finale l’on retrouve une moyenne amertume aux notes asséchantes de houblon herbeux (herbes fraîches) avec des faibles notes florales. Post-goût moyen et aux petites notes sèches, moyennement amer de houblon herbeux avec un goût fruité (zest d’agrumes, notes de pelures de pêche).
