Bottle. Pours slightly hazy reddish mahogany with a small tan head that dissipates fairly quickly leaving a bit of lacing. Aroma is rich and malty, vanilla, bourbon dates, raisins, toffee, oak tannin. Flavor is quite sweet and light plus bitter, rich and decadent. Full body, soft mouthfeel. Kind of hot overall.

Thanks to Hamirubi! 750 ml. bottle sampled @ RBBSG17. Dark amber brown, tanned head. Nose is herbal cacao, mocha, far too herbal, the dry hopping? Taste is chocolate, cacao, dark fruit, surprisingly boozy, cacao. Thick, far too herbal bitter. Good but not as good as expected & rather different from what I expected.

750mL bottle pours with a dark body that supports a dark tan head of foam. The aroma offers up malts blended with jammy grape must and then lighter notes of booze, dates and bourbon. The taste delivers sweet malts, brown sugar dusted prunes and then a bit of molasses, dates and ripe cherries. Toward the finish modest smooth sweet bourbon comes to the surface to add a little more depth to counter the Old Ale sweetness. A bit of earthy tobacco would pull this right on track.
